Juventus’ Argentinian foward Carlos Alberto Tevez (C) is tackled by AC Milan’s midfielder of Ghana Sulley Ali Muntari and AC Milan’s Dutch midfielder Nigel de Jong.

It was a Super Sunday in the Italian Serie A and the French Ligue 1 with top teams facing each other.

AC Milan vs Juventus

Juventus beat AC Milan 3-2 at home to stay close behind Roma in the Serie A table.

Sulley Muntari shocked the hosts after he scored just 19 seconds after kick off when he slid in to slot home a pass from Antonio Nocerino. But Andrea Pirlo tied the game in the first half with a free kick in the 15th minute after Carlos Tevez was fouled by his ex-Manchester City team mate Nigel De Jong.

The game also got physical with Leonardo Bonucci getting only a yellow card for a head butt on Robinho. Philippe Mexes also got involved in the second half when he punched Chiellini in the shoulder when the referee wasn’t looking. He was ultimately sent off in the 74th minute for a second yellow card.

Giovinco came on as a substitute in the 67th minute and he made an impact in less than two minutes after he went past two AC Milan defenders to score a brilliant goal. With Milan down to 10 men, Juventus capitalized through another free kick with Pirlo hitting the bar and Chiellini scoring off the rebound. Milan managed to grab one back in the 90th minute when Muntari scored again but it was too late for the side to mount a comeback.

With Roma winning at the San Siro on Saturday night, Juventus needed the win against AC Milan to stay close to the league leaders. Roma now lead the table with a perfect 21 points from 7 games, while Napoli and Juventus are on 19 each.

PSG vs Marseille

In Ligue 1’s Le Classique, Paris Saint-Germain beat Marseille 2-1 to ensure that Monaco would only top the table due to goal difference. An intense game saw its fair share of fouls and even had to be halted when a flare landed on the pitch. But it wasn’t until the half hour mark when Mathieu Valbuena was brought down in the box by Thiago Motta who received a straight red card for the challenge.

Andre Ayew took the resulting penalty and slammed the ball home. But PSG responded just before half time with Maxwell getting on the score sheet with a header from a Gregory Van der Wiel’s cross. In the second half, Marseille shot themselves in the foot when in the 66th minute Ayew unsuccessfully attempted a needless tackle on Marquinhos in the box. Zlatan Ibrahimovic stepped up scored with a composed finish to give PSG the win.

PSG are now level on points with table toppers Monaco with 21 points each from 9 games.
