Falcao backs the elite three for Ballon d'Or

Chelsea and Manchester City premier target Radamel Falcao has backed the Elite Trio of the La Liga consisting of Messi, Iniesta and Ronaldo. The Colombian star has said that he may not win it this time because there is Messi in the race, the ace striker who has scored an incredible 73 goals this year.

Falcao has been impressive with the ball this season. His scintillating form has gained him a place in the 23-member Ballon d’Or shortlist. The Atletico Madrid star doesn’t rate his chances of winning the Ballon d’Or because he feels that his achievement is too small when compared to Drogba, Rooney, Ronaldo and Messi.

When asked by FIFA.com about his chances of winning the accolade, Falcao said: “That’s for others to say, not me.”

When asked about his favourite for winning the accolade, he picked up the trio but couldn’t choose one of them.

“That’s a tough question!” Falcao said. “I think there are several players who have done a lot this season to deserve it, thanks to their achievements with both their clubs and national sides. It could be Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo or Andres Iniesta.

“They are some of the players who have stood out in the past season.” Falcao has 10 League goals in just 9 games and has been rated best number 9 in world football.
