10 Most underrated players in FIFA 16

Year after year, we look forward to playing with our favourite players on FIFA Career mode. There are some names on this list who are exceptionally good players, but since EA clearly mentioned that the ratings are based on the performances over the last 12 months, we feel that some of the ratings given to the players are not justified.With the FIFA 16 release just around the corner, we take a look at the top 10 underrated players in the game.

#1 Thibaut Courtois - Chelsea

FIFA 16 rating: 86

Thibaut Courtois is currently the backbone of Chelsea football team. He kept 12 clean sheets throughout the season and kept Petr Cech on the bench who was left out of the starting lineup. The Belgian is rated 86 in FIFA 16. The undeserved rating of 86 for the tall Belgium keeper is unfair who played an integral role in Chelsea’s title winning season.

He is regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the world and he definitely deserves an increase in his rating. The 23-year-old goalkeeper has got a promising career ahead of him.

#2 Sergio Aguero - Manchester City

FIFA 16 rating: 87

The Manchester City striker was immense in his side’s goal-scoring department last season. EA Sports has honoured his incredible goal-scoring tally of 26 goals in 33 appearances by increasing his overall rating by +1. Surely, the 27-year-old deserves more than just +1 increase as he is arguably Barclays Premier League's best striker at this moment in time.

The way he bulldozed his way through Chelsea’s defence in the second match of the season showed his class and worth. Even the brilliance of John Terry couldn’t contain and stop the Argentine ace man.

#3 Arturo Vidal - Bayern Munich

FIFA 16 rating: 86

Arturo Vidal is a great example of a complete midfield dynamo, box-to-box goalscoring midfielder. He has got the heart of a lion and the Chilean midfielder is a born fighter who was influential in Juventus’ progress to UEFA Champions League final 2014/15.

Vidal had a glorious time with the national camp by winning the Copa America before making his summer move to German powerhouse, Bayern Munich. Vidal deserves more than just +1 increase in his overall rating as he is regarded as one of the best midfielders in the world.

#4 Laurent Koscielny - Arsenal

Dubbed as the next Tony Adams in the current Arsenal squad, Koscielny is easily one of the most underrated defenders in the Barclays Premier League. The Frenchman has grown in stature over the past few years at the Emirates, forming a great understanding and partnership with the former German international centre-back, Per Mertesacker. Gifted with pace, tenacity and ability to read the game, Koscielny deserves the increase in his overall rating in FIFA 16.

The 29-year-old is one of the main man at the Emirates stadium and young players like Bellerin, Chambers will be looking to learn from the Frenchman.

#5 Karim Benzema - Real Madrid

The French striker was heavily linked with Arsenal this summer as there were speculations of Benzema running out of favour at the Santiago Bernabeu. Karim Benzema has been overshadowed by Ronaldo since his arrival from Lyon back in 2009 and his huge contribution for the club over the past few years has been left unnoticed or rather, overlooked.

The 27-year-old striker has been highly criticised for his languid playing style and laziness on the pitch but his link up play with Ronaldo is top notch. He’s a clinical finisher on his day and is easily one of the best strikers in the world. He deserves an overall rating of 87 by EA Sports.

#6 Antoine Griezmann - Atletico Madrid

FIFA 16 rumoured rating: 84

Began his career at Real Sociedad, before making his big move to Atletico Madrid Antoine Griezmann has come a long way and has had an impressive season with the Spanish capital outfit. The 24-year-old scored 22 goals in the league last term only Messi and Ronaldo had a better goal scoring stat than the Frenchman.

Griezmann deserves to get an increase of +2 in his rating by EA Sports. All the top clubs in Europe are keeping a close watch on the Frenchman and Manchester United were also interested in signing him this summer.

#7 David De Gea - Manchester United

FIFA 16 rating: 86

David De Gea along with Thibaut Courtois is considered the best young goalkeeper in the world and he has proven it last season with his stellar performance for the Red Devils. He was arguably Manchester United’s best player and was on the verge of making a move to Real Madrid this summer. The Spanish goalkeeper kept 10 clean sheets despite United’s poor defensive frailties last season. EA Sports rates him 86 and there’s not much to complain about De Gea’s rating.

#8 Neymar Jr - FC Barcelona

FIFA 16 rating: 88

The Brazillian forward along with Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi formed a lethal attacking force for FC Barcelona which was named ‘MSN’ in Europe and other parts of the world. Neymar led the charge in Brazil’s progress to the quarter-finals of 2010 World Cup.

While he netted 54 goals in 92 appearances for the Blaugrana side and he deservedly earned an increase in his rating from 86 to 88 in this year’s edition of FIFA 16. He is regarded as one of the best players in the world and he features in FIFA 16 top-ten list.

#9 Diego Costa - Chelsea

FIFA 16 rating: 86

Diego Costa has been given an upgrade, but not enough by EA Sports. If it had at least increased to 87 it would have made sense. Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas were Mourinho’s big summer recruits and star players of last season.

The Chelsea striker led his side’s attack along with former club player Didier Drogba who played second fiddle to Diego Costa. He was Premier League’s third highest goalscorer in the 2014/15 campaign with 20 goals and could have gone on to score more if it weren’t for his frequent hamstring injuries.

#10 Gareth Bale - Real Madrid

FIFA 16 rating: 87

The world’s most expensive player made a brilliant start to his Real Madrid career in by scoring in the finals of UEFA Champions League 2013/14 and Copa Del Rey 2013/14. However, in his second season at the Santiago Bernabeu he has received a lot of sticks for his incosistent performance and failure to live up to his hefty price tag.

Nonetheless, the 26-year-old Welshman went on to pick up 10 assists and 17 goals for the Los Blancos side in the following season. Gareth Bale does not deserve the criticism for his undying effort who is still yet to fully settle down at the Spanish capital. His FIFA 16 rating remains at 87.
