FPL tips: 5 players you must get rid of before Gameweek 11

AS Roma v Chelsea FC - UEFA Champions League
Morata is going through a rough patch

Gameweek 10 marked the start of the second quarter of the Premier League season, and with a quarter of the season gone in the blink of an eye, it is easy to miss which of your golden FPL picks just turned into dead wood.

So, let's take a look at 5 such players you must sell before their value goes crashing down:

#5. Alvaro Morata (Forward-Chelsea)

Price: 10.3 (No deviation from previous value)

Fixtures: Manchester United, West Bromwich Albion, Liverpool, Swansea City, Newcastle United.

The Spanish spearhead who had a dream start to the Premier League after joining Chelsea in the summer, scoring 6 goals and providing 2 assists in his first 6 games, has now somewhat slowed down ever since his injury against Manchester City.

Morata has failed to find the net ever since his hat-trick against Stoke City. His injury has surely played a part, ending his game early against Guardiola's City and sidelining him against Chelsea's shock loss to Crystal Palace.

The Spaniard was withdrawn early against Watford and his replacement Michy Batshuayi ended up scoring two goals in a game where Morata failed to find the net. His performance against Bournemouth was not too good either as he missed as many as three great chances, although he did grab the assist for Hazard's winner.

Additionally, all this controversy surrounding him ever since he made the remarks about living in London and his praise for Juve is definitely not helping his form, especially with him going up against statistically the best defence in the league in gameweek 11.

#4. John Stones (Defender- Manchester City)

Manchester City v Stoke City - Premier League
Stones and Otamendi will need to plug the leakage at the back

Price: 5.6 (No deviation from previous value)

Fixtures: Arsenal, Leicester City, Huddersfield Town, Southampton, West Ham United.

While on paper, a defender who plays for the league leaders and possibly the best team in England this season who also holds the second best record for goals conceded, may seem a great choice for your FPL team, City's recent defensive record seems to suggest otherwise.

Pep Guardiola's team has conceded six goals in their last five games (including the UCL tie against Napoli). While the record doesn't sound too bad, the opposition they have conceded against is rather worrying.( 2 conceded against both, Stoke and WBA, who are not very good in attack.)

This doesn't necessarily mean that Man City are weak at the back or their defenders are not good enough, it just seems like Guardiola's main focus is on scoring as many as his team can, and not on a conservative backline. This prioritisation from Guardiola is not good news for FPL owners who have trusted City's defenders with their backline.

This approach has so far led City to the top of the table, making their attacking options must-haves on FPL, but their defenders should be avoided for now.

#3. Alexandre Lacazette (Forward- Arsenal)

Arsenal v Swansea City - Premier League
Lacazette is yet to prove himself as a matchwinner at Arsenal

Price: 10.4 (No deviation from previous value)

Fixtures: Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspurs, Burnley, Huddersfield Town, Manchester United.

The French striker who was tipped to be one of the brightest goalscoring talents in Europe since the last 5 years, finally seemed to have ended Arsenal's search for a prolific goalscorer when he signed for them in the summer, but this has not been the case thus far.

Like many other talents to have stepped on the Premier League stage, Alexandre Lacazette seems to need some time to settle in the world's most physically challenging and competitive league. Even though his start may not be as bad as some others, Lacazette needs time to adapt to his new surroundings, and once he does there is no doubt he will be amongst the most dangerous strikers in the league, but for now, he should get the axe from your FPL side.

His 5 goals and 42 points in FPL so far might suggest that he is better than my valuation of him, but for the same price, you could be getting a lot, lot more.

So far Lacazette has only managed to score what you may call "Cameo" goals and has not stepped up to the plate to win games on his own. If he would've been even a little cheaper, he could have been an excellent pick on FPL, but at this point in time, his price tag just does not seem to be worth it.

If that is not enough to convince you, a glance at his fixture list should do the job. The French international faces Man City, Tottenham and Man Utd in his next 5 games and I am not optimistic enough to see him scoring in this troublesome set of fixtures.

#2. Sead Kolasinac (Defender- Arsenal)

Arsenal v Swansea City - Premier League
Kolasinac's availability is an issue

Price: 6.0 (No deviation from previous value)

Fixtures: Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspurs, Burnley, Huddersfield Town, Manchester United.

The second Arsenal player on the list and an interesting pick considering he scored last week against Swansea, Kolasinac finds himself on this list because of his injury and a very laborious set of fixtures coming up.

While he is not 100% ruled out of the City game, there is no solid news on whether he will feature or not. The fact that he didn't play midweek against Red Star is also not very encouraging.

"Today he was much better. He will have a test at the end of the week. He’s not ruled out of Sunday’s game yet, but of course, he was not involved on Thursday. It’s not as bad as we feared at the start.” said Arsene Wenger before Arsenal's midweek clash against Red Star in the Europa League.

#1. Willian (Midfielder- Chelsea)

Chelsea v Manchester City - Premier League
Willian is playing second fiddle to Pedro

Price: 6.8 (No deviation from previous value)

Fixtures: Manchester United, West Bromwich Albion, Liverpool, Swansea City, Newcastle United.

While the Brazilian may have been a bargain at the start of the season for a price of just 7.0, Willian has understandably struggled to find a place in Chelsea's starting lineup ever since Eden Hazard made his recovery.

Despite his amazing performances during Hazard's absence, Antonio Conte seems to prefer the duo of Eden Hazard and Pedro to play behind the striker.

Willian has not played more than 22 minutes in Chelsea's last two games and with the Man Utd fixture coming up, you would expect Pedro to be preferred as he provides a greater threat on the counter.

If you were not one of the 102,948 FPL players who lost patience with the Brazilian after Chelsea's clash against City, now is the time to get rid of him before his price inevitably goes crashing down.
