Chelsea manager, Jose Mourinho has admitted interest in signing Colombian striker Radamel Falcao, who currently plays for the Ligue 1 side AS Monaco, while ruling out a move for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, citing the transfer of the Swede as ‘impossible’.

Chelsea have known woes in the striking department, with Samuel Eto’o to see out his contract which expires at the end of the season and £50 million flop Fernando Torres not exactly living up to his sky-high billing. Demba Ba also has failed to establish himself as the centre-forward that Chelsea need and as such has fallen further down the pecking order.

Falcao, currently recovering from a knee ligament injury, is a doubt for the upcoming Brazil World Cup. The striker who moved from Atletico Madrid to Monaco in the summer for a fee of around £50 million is reportedly unhappy in Monaco.

Mourinho was recorded by French TV company Canal Plus, in what he thought was a private conversation with the owner of Hublot, a Swiss watch manufacturing company, where the Portuguese said: “I have a team but no striker.”

“The problem at Chelsea is that we are lacking a goalscorer. I have one [Samuel Eto’o] but he is 32, possibly 35, who knows?”

The remark about Eto’o is understood to be a reference to the supposed doubt about the true age of some African players.

“A player (Falcao) like him can’t play in front of 3,000 people. Monaco is a club to end [your career with].”

Paris Saint Germain duo of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Edinson Cavani have been linked with a move to Chelsea, however Mourinho ruled out moves for the duo, while also ruling out the prospect of letting Eden Hazard go to PSG.

“Eden is our boy,” Mourinho said. “We want him to stay for 10 years. We want to build the team around him. He’s a player with the style of football that we want to have in our team.”

“Zlatan to Chelsea? It’s impossible. He’s happy at Paris. I know because he is my friend and we are in touch. PSG, with all its wealth, would never open the door. That’s mission impossible.”
