Juventus break Chelsea record with 58 players out on loan this season

Juventus players celebrate their Italian Super Cup triumph before the start of the campaign

Just when you thought Chelsea sent the most number of players out on loan to other teams, the Italian champions Juventus have broken the record with a massive 58 players currently out on loan, but of course, on temporary moves this season.

The reigning English champions have sent a total of 33 players out on loan this season and they have been roundly criticised for exploiting relaxed loan rules to bring in young promising talent without ever giving them opportunities in the club’s first team. The Blues, instead rely on increasing the values of those players elsewhere before selling them off.

However, Jose Mourinho’s side doesn’t even come close to Juventus who have 25 more players out on loan, which is enough to field four teams including substitutes. But the fact still remains that the Serie A giant’s loanees are mostly in Italy at lower league clubs with a few further away in France and Belgium.

We might have seen some of the club’s youngsters in action for top clubs across Europe, including Kingsley Coman, who’s currently with German champions Bayern Munich. While defender Paolo De Ceglie joined French outfit Olympique de Marseille this season. Chilean full-back Mauricio Isla is another Juve player to join De Ceglie in the Ligue 1, despite previously being sent on loan to England’s Queens Park Ranger last season where he made a total of 26 appearances.

Isla joined Juve in the summer of 2012 from Udinese, but he has made only 48 appearances for the club in all competition so far and he has managed to add 5 assists to his name. The attacking full-back has struggled to receive game time in Turin.

Kingsley Coman, who’s another of the Juve loanees, joined Pep Guardiola’s star-studded Bayern squad during summer and he has quickly become a key member. The French youngster is currently on a two-year loan with the German side.

Earlier this month he was taken off in the first half of France U21s European qualifier against Scotland which ended 2-1 at full time. The Bavarians had played down the injury picked up by the player, revealing that it was a minor thigh injury and he was quickly restored back to the squad within few days.

Coman has made a lively start to his Bayern career scoring 2 league goals in 4 appearances and it’s not surprising to see the youngster shining alongside star players like Thomas Muller and Robert Lewandowski.
