Transfer Rumour: Juventus join the race for James Rodriguez

James Rodriguez
Rodriguez scored 8 goals for Madrid last season

Real Madrid attacker, James Rodriguez has been the subject of interest for clubs all over Europe this summer. Los Blancos manager, Zinedine Zidane doesn't seem to rate the Columbian star as James hasn't been an integral player under the Frenchman as he was for the club in his first season.

He made 32 appearances for Madrid scoring eight goals and ten assists whereas playing 46 times in his first campaign for the club.

Juventus are said to be in for the Columbian attacker, and look to add players to their ranks after arguably doing the best bit of business throughout Europe this summer.

Signing Gonzalo Higuain, Dani Alves, Miralem Pjanic and Mehdi Benatia in one transfer window is a job well done for the Italian champions. They will look to continue their dominance in domestically and now are one of the favourites for the Champions League along with Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Barcelona.

Real Madrid are expecting a bid of around £65 million to prise James Rodriguez away from the club. Though Zidane has said before that James is in his future plans as he was quoted saying after Madrid's 3-2 victory over Sevilla, "James has just arrived back, like Modric. You ask me about him every time, but he is the same as them all. He is a player with talent and we have a very good set of players. They can all play."

James' case has been weakened after the emergence of Marco Asensio, Luis Vazquez and the re-arrival of Alvaro Morata from Turin. James and Isco are not preferred by Zidane to play in the big games as the Columbian was left of the playing eleven in the Champions League final against Atletico Madrid.

One more season on the bench would not be beneficial for the 25-year-old as he enters the peak age of his playing career.

Manchester United were interested in signing the attacker, but the interest seems to have waned. Rodriguez hasn’t spent more than three years at a club and Madrid is his third club in five years and has played for Porto and Monaco in this period. Arsenal and Chelsea are also said to be in the race for his signature as the London clubs need strengthening in the attacking department.

Madrid have set a huge asking price for the Columbian and it remains to be seen which club decides to splurge such a big amount for James Rodriguez.
