Barcelona have got two players this month but only one will be playing for them this season. Real Madrid have got Brahim Diaz for now but are looking for more. And meanwhile, Atletico Madrid are close to sealing the deal for Alvaro Morata.

Here are the top news and rumours of the day involving the Spanish sides:

Ernesto Valverde unhappy with Pep Guardiola's approach

Barcelona have secured the signing of Frenkie De Jong from Ajax but they were not the only club interested in signing him. The Dutchman himself confirmed that he spoke with Manchester City and PSG, but it was the approach from Pep Guardiola that has irritated Valverde.

The current Barcelona manager believes that Guardiola was wrong in talking directly with the player who is under contract at Ajax. "Talking with a player that is under contract with another club is something that can't be done. Doing something like that is not in my personal code, however, it is true that everyone has their own way of acting in these situations," said Valverde.

"Everything is dependent on De Jong, and how he performs. He will need to adapt, despite coming from a club with a similar philosophy to Barcelona. He is young, and that needs to be taken into account, but we are always looking to bring in players that can improve us," added the Barcelona manager in his press conference.

Alvaro Morata to Atletico Madrid all but done

Alvaro Morata has undergone his medical ahead of his move to Atletico Madrid according to various reports. The Chelsea striker is set to join on loan until the end of the season with an option to make it permanent for around €50 million.

Talking about his move back to Madrid, he said, “I'm happy to be in Madrid. I've been waiting for many days. I'm super happy and I want everything to be finalised, to start and train with my colleagues. The people who have always been with me know how I feel today, how the last days have been.”

“It's normal for people to have their thoughts [about playing for Atletico after Real Madrid], I know what I can do. I started playing at Atletico. People who know where I come from, they know my history and what this means to me. The past is the past, I am proud of that,” added the striker.

Atletico Madrid fans, however, chanted “Menos Morata y mas Borja Garces” indicating that they want to see more of their youngster, 19-year-old Borja Garces and not Morata at the club.
