#5 Guillem Balague gives an update on Arsenal

The Gunners are currently finding it hard to find form but it seems like they won’t be spending big in the winter market. The Londoners have spent quite a lot in their last two windows and it looks like there won’t be a hattrick of big-spending windows.

According to Guillem Balague, the Londoners’ spending in the last couple of windows have put them in a situation where they have three players – Aubameyang, Mesut Ozil and Henrikh Mkhitaryan – with considerable wages.

“Arsenal spent a lot of money in the summer,” he was quoted as saying.

“They spent a lot of money in the previous window in the winter transfer market with Aubameyang.

“And they spent a lot of money on three players especially in terms of wages - Aubameyang, Ozil and (Henrikh) Mkhitaryan.”

As a result, the idea for the winter transfer wasn’t to spend big to reinforce the team but make bargain signings to plug the gaps. However, Balague doesn’t think that defense is one of those gaps and that only a bargain deal would make the Gunners sign a defender.

“So the conditions were clear for this one that they have to just try to fill the holes. Two holes mostly - and not a centre-back hole unless a bargain appears in the market.”

Finally, all is not gloomy for the Londoners as there seems to be light at the end of the tunnel for them if Balague is to be believed. He stated that the Gunners will have money to spend in the summer transfer window.

“The good news for Arsenal fans is in the summer there will be money.”

Mesut Ozil has been somewhat ostracized from the starting XI of Arsenal. It has now gotten to such a point where it won’t be shocking if the Emirates outfit opt to sell him and get rid of his huge wages.

Meanwhile, Spanish journalist Kike Marin used his Twitter to give an update on Arsenal’s potential deal to bring James Rodriguez from Bayern Munich. The Colombian has struggled with injuries and has been on the radar of the Gunners for a while now.

And Emery wants the Colombian to replace the German.

“As reported by @BBCDeportes, Emery would like to see Özil out of @Arsenal and in his place bring James Rodriguez. As for Denis Suárez, Barça is reluctant to let him out and they are not going to make it easy for him. Denis would be happy to play at #Arsenal.”

Gonzalo Higuain’s deal to Chelsea was supposed to have been finalized by now but there seems to be a bit of a delay. According to Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth, the Argentine’s brother is about to fly to London to complete the deal.

He also added that Higuain’s chances of playing against Arsenal on Saturday are slim and finished off by claiming that the Blues are going to sign him on loan with an option to extend it for a further 12 months.

"Sky in Italy are reporting Higuain's brother is standing by to fly to London to complete the deal," he said.

"It's more likely that if Higuain is at the Emirates on Saturday it will be to watch the game.

"We told you yesterday a loan had been agreed with Juventus until the end of the season. Chelsea do have the option to extend that loan by another 12 months."

"Nobody could expect it but we were hoping for it. It is nice to have this boy around. He is not only a fantastic player but an even better person.

Mauricio Pochettino has ruled out a move for former Manchester United forward Giuseppe Rossi, who is currently a free agent and is training with the Red Devils.

Pochettino said: “There are many names that appear in every transfer window. I think he is another name to add on the list but it is only a rumour. We have not considered him. It’s a rumour like another but if you ask me, I think no, it’s not a possibility.”

Meanwhile, Don Balon state that Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has given his green light to the board to move for Tottenham’s Davinson Sanchez. The Colombian has also been linked with the Blancos but it seems like the Red Devils could get him for around €50 million.
