Hello and welcome to the Premier League latest transfer news and rumours of the day! With the transfer market reaching its final week, it is now ‘squeaky bum’ time for the clubs who wish to make some deals.

So, without further ado, here is a look at what is happening in the transfer market tonight!

#5 Former Arsenal legend skeptical about James

Former Arsenal star Lauren is of the opinion that James Rodriguez might not be a good signing for the Gunners. The Colombian has been linked with a move to the Premier League as Bayern are unlikely to sign him on a permanent basis.

And among the clubs interested, Arsenal seem to be the prominent name. However, Lauren doesn’t think that they should consider a move for him even it is on a temporary basis.

“I’m not sure that Arsenal should be seriously considering James Rodriquez, even on loan,” Lauren said.

While Lauren does admit that the Colombian is talented, his inability to make himself established at Real and Bayern – coupled with his wages – is an issue the Gunners.

“Rodriguez has got a lot of talent, but the warning signs are there that he hasn’t been able to settle at either Real Madrid or Bayern Munich.

“He comes with a massive wage bill so Arsenal would have to make sure he was fully on board with the philosophy of the club.”

However, Lauren did admit that should Emery bring out the King James versio of the Colombian, then the Gunners could qualify for the Champions League.

“Rodriquez has played in the big games for the big clubs so there’s no doubting his talent,” he said.

“If Emery can get the best out of him then he could make a real impact on whether Arsenal qualify for next season’s Champions League.

“It’s a roll of the dice.”

#4 The want for Serie A duo

Mancini is in good form this season

Atalanta have been exceptional in the Serie A this season as they find themselves in the number 7 spot. The side, led by Gian Piero Gasperini, have had some great performers and one of them is Gianluca Mancini.

The defender has been very consistent this season so far, which has resulted in some interest from Premier League club. Wolves, Everton and Fulham are the clubs whose names have been linked to the talented defender, according to Calciomercato.

Meanwhile, another Serie A star, Andrea Belotti, has been linked with another Premier League club in the form of West Ham United. There is a lot of interest for the forward but according to Tuttosport, Torino have no intention of selling their star asset, especially for the reported price of £40 million.

Belotti has a release clause of a €100 million.

#3 Hazard wanted to join Spurs

Chelsea star Eden Hazard could have been a Tottenham player had things gone down a little differently. The Belgian was making waves during his time in Lille and his then team-mate Joe Cole apparently suggested then Spurs manager Harry Redknapp sign him.

According to Redknapp, the Belgium captain was interested in joining the Lilywhites but nothing came of it in the end. He also made sure to give Cole the credit for recommending Hazard to him at the time.

“He wanted to come to Tottenham at that time, but unfortunately the deal didn’t get done. It was a shame,” Redknapp was quoted as saying.

“I was over there all the time. Joe put me onto him in the first place when he was very young, he’s just a genius.”

This must really hurt a lot of Spurs fans.

#2 Spurs looking for signings

Spurs might finally sign some players
Spurs might finally sign some players

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has admitted that the club are finally looking to sign players but not because of the injury problems. The Argentine stated that he is always open to signing players that improve the side.

And now, with the departure of Mousa Dembele, there is an empty slot in the midfield and the former Espanyol manager stated that they are looking at the market to fill up that void. However, he is not entirely sure if they can deliver.

"I always say I am more than open to add players to the squad. That is so clear. A different thing is if we can find the right player that is going to help us improve,” he said.

"We are working on a few options. We will see if we are able to deliver. We have one space now Mousa Dembele has gone.”

It wouldn’t be wrong to claim that the Blues are perhaps the busiest team among the top six in the market. The Londoners have signed Gonzalo Higuain on a loan deal and have also sold Cesc Fabregas to Monaco.

And now, Victor Moses has also left the club on a loan deal to Fenerbahce. The loan deal is expected to be of 18 months and will hope that he finally gets the playing time that he wanted.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid have three huge problems with the Eden Hazard deal and they are Sergio Ramos, Luka Modric and Marco Asensio. According to Don Balon, the Belgian is set to earn €16.5 million-a-year with the Blancos, which is more than what the aforementioned three make.

As a result, the trio would want parity or else leave the club for greener pastures.
