Real Madrid are go all out to sign Eden Hazard

What's the rumour?

Real Madrid have long been credited with an interest in Eden Hazard and now latest reports in Diario Gol claim that Los Blancos have reserved the 'number 10' jersey for the Chelsea superstar next season.

Luka Modric wears the number 10 jersey currently at Real Madrid, but according to Daily Star's translation of the report, they say that Modric knows he will be sold at the end of the season with his old club Tottenham front-runners to secure his signature.

Future Galactico?

The 27-year-old Belgian has been in fine form for Chelsea this season and is undoubtedly one of the best players in the Premier League at the moment. With Real Madrid struggling this season, reinforcements are expected next season and Hazard could well be on his way to the Spanish capital.

On the other hand, Luka Modric, who currently wears the 'number 10' jersey, is on the wrong side of 30 and Los Blancos might be looking to sell their star midfielder and bring in some fresh faces.

The heart of the matter

After an excellent 2016/17 season, the All Whites have tailed off surprisingly and are languishing in the 4th position in LaLiga this season. The form of Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema has been of particular concern and according to the report, Florentino Perez is extremely keen on adding some fresh attacking talent in the form of Neymar and Hazard.

With the report even stating that Real's kit producers, Adidas are keen on the deal going through, the move to sign Eden Hazard might actually come to fruition in the summer transfer window.

Rumour rating/probability

6.5/10

Eden Hazard has long been linked with a move to Real Madrid and with the rumour gaining traction in Spain, the deal might actually get done in the summer. Having said that, Diario Gol is not the most reliable of sources and it will be interesting to see if Luka Modric's number 10 jersey actually becomes free in the summer transfer window.

Author's take

Real Madrid need some fresh faces and who better than Eden Hazard to reinvigorate their slightly jaded attack. Touted as a future Ballon d'Or winner, the Belgian is capable of winning matches single-handedly and in my humble opinion, Hazard will be a perfect fit for Real Madrid if he does indeed end up signing for the Spanish giants in the summer transfer window.
