Rumour: Atletico Madrid all set to pip Manchester United and Chelsea for Ivan Rakitic

Spanish giants Atletico Madrid have reportedly snuck ahead of Manchester United and Chelsea in their race to sign Sevilla star – Ivan Rakitic.

A host of clubs are gunning for his signature after his flying start to the season. The Croatian international has already scored five, and set up seven in 14 appearances in the La Liga.

Atletico Madrid have reportedly, all but wrapped up a deal which will see the winger play his trade at the Calderon post January next year. This could be seen as cover for star striker Diego Costa, who could leave the club in January, after the European big wigs declared interest in him.

However, Sevilla will be reluctant to let go of their talisman, as they look to qualify for Europe next year.
