Michu has been in sensational form this season

Michu has set the EPL on fire with his goal scoring abilities and is the top scorer with 13 goals in 18 games. The former Real Oviedo player is all set to be handed a call-up for the Spanish national team.

“Iago Aspas and Michu will appear”, del Bosque has said to the Spanish media.

Iago Aspas, the 25-year old from Galicia, Spain, has been in sensational form netting 6 goals in 13 games in all domestic competitions for Celta de Vigo.

Michu moved to Swansea in the summer transfer window from Rayo Vallecano for £2 million. Along with Michu, Iago Aspas will also be making his debut for La Furia Roja. It is very likely that the duo will feature for Spain in their friendly against Uruguay in Doha, Qatar on the 6th of February.

“Michu deserves to be credited for his superb season”, the Spanish national team supremo was quoted saying.

“The way he has stood out in the league at a club like Swansea, which is not one of the top clubs, is exceptional.

“He’s not an out-and-out striker and has been scoring a lot of goals like he did for Rayo Vallecano.”

The Spanish national team has no dearth of talent to look forward to and only time will tell if Michu and Iago Aspas can cement their place in the World Cup and European Championship winning squad. Michu will have stiff competition from Barcelona forwards David Villa and Pedro Rodriguez, and Valencia hitman, Roberto Soldado. Villa may not have age on his side, but is as formidable as ever and has since gone on to become to Spain’s all-time leading goal scorer.
