The 2018/19 season has reached its midpoint and things have warmed up well so far. There have been brilliant goals, unbeaten runs, managerial turmoils and everything associated with a great football season. Keeping in sync with the past, this season too has seen some of the best players in action, giving their all and making their marks in their respective leagues.

These players have spearheaded their team's run in the league and the cup competitions and are few of the most important men in their clubs. Today, we take a look at the top 5 Footballers in the world right now, based on their performances so far this season.

New season, same old Ronaldo. The Portuguese had joined Juventus over the summer and has been playing in the Serie A for the first time. However, even though he took a little time to get started, Ronaldo has resumed normal service at Turin and is having another stellar season so far.

Hazard has 12 goals from 26 games in all competitions this season and looks set to surpass his returns from last season. He has blossomed well under Maurizio Sarri's tactics and even though he has toyed with Chelsea regarding a potential move to Real Madrid, he has been their best player so far.

He has occasionally appeared as a center forward this season, but Hazard has played most of the games in a forward left position and it is here that the Belgian has been hurt the opposition defenses. The sensational french youngster - he has just turned 20 last December - started the season as a World Cup winner. Mbappe was adjudged the Young Player of the Tournament at the 2018 FIFA World Cup and a lot was expected of him this season. True to the hype, the Frenchman has not disappointed, already scoring 17 goals from 21 games in all competitions for PSG.

In the Ligue 1, Mbappe has 13 goals from 12 appearances and has been one of PSG's most potent weapons. Mbappe is averaging 3.9 shots per game, the third highest in this list. He is averaging a relatively low 1.5 key passes, even though he has 10 assists to his name in all competitions.
