UEFA's Team of the Year for 2014 voted by users revealed

UEFA have announced their users’ Team of the Year for 2014 after 8.6 million fans voted on the website – a new record for number of votes. With fans picking from a number of players on the website and on Twitter, the final XI has been announced. as three debutants, four FC Bayern München players and a ninth appearance for Cristiano Ronaldo.

Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo got the most votes with over 623,000 votes. This is the ninth time Ronaldo has made the UEFA team of the Year. The team is also dominated by players from Bayern Munich while three players also make their debut in the team.

Lionel Messi also makes it back to the team after he wasn’t selected in 2013’s team. The majority of the voters chose the 4-3-3 formation (37%).

The players who made it into the team for the first time are Atletico Madrid’s Diego Godin, former Real Madrid and Manchester United player Angel Di Maria and former Bayern Munich and current Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos.
