Yes, United can be stopped from winning the Premier League

So many media houses have asked this question in the recent past, and the answer that most Manchester United fans would really love to hear, and they do get to hear that a lot, is that no one can stop Manchester United from winning the Premier League. Well, not until recently though, right?

United need to make sure that this does not happen in May.

Having maintained a good 7 point lead against the noisy neighbours, United must have thought they had it all, well, they have handled Liverpool, managed to rob Chelsea, Arsenal came and went, and Manchester City is not the same side that scored 6 past a hapless De Gea last term. With such statistics, it is safe to say there is no stopping United.

However, a keen football fan would point out that there is someone who can stop United from winning the league this season, Guess who? Manchester United. As has been the case for sometime now, United have a way of making things a tad bit too hard for themselves. Being a keen supporter of United, I still remember the season we gifted Chelsea, thanks to Dimitar Berbatov and Ben Foster. Oh, the blunders Foster made in between the sticks that year were quite the godsend for any opponent, and coupled with Berbatov’s failure to score some very simple goals, well, London took the honours.

Of course Van Der Sar came back and like Spiderman, Manchester United were back to business. Fast forward to last season, I still believe the noisy neighbours should have remained so, if not the jealous neighbours. However, we allowed them to upgrade their status to the other guys. You know that neighbour that seems to have it all, but you never really know how they manage to get it all. They seem so happy, but at night you hear them shouting and fighting and throwing all sorts of things at the wall. Well, Mancini and his bridal party really play the part, with Mario being the altar boy.

So City managed to get the world focused on their soap opera, Mario this, Tevez that, unknown to everyone else, Silva was jinxing the midfield, and Aguero showing the Sheikh value for money. They won the League, with pretty much the last second of the season, oh what a magnificent finish. At that moment it felt like Sir Alex’s so many years of hard work and Fergie times were so insignificant. Honestly, I wonder what is wrong with City this season, but then again, Dzeko has become the super sub, and they are busy going about their business as usual.

If you are keen, you will realize that City are winning scrappily, but the 3 points in the bag, nothing matters most, right? Just like United do when they are not having a good game, they still manage to whoop in a goal or two, and hold on for dear life.

So, Manchester United might not win the league this season, and all this because of Manchester United. Let’s see…

Goal

United are still struggling to prove to the world that they have a gem in De Gea. Lindegaard on the other hand, I just don’t know. I am sure some of the things these players do in goal really make Van Der Sar wish he pulled a Scholes too.

Defense

Leaking goals like the Titanic, watch out, that one sunk! Vidic is back, but it really is going to be time before he becomes the Serbinator again. Rio, well, Rio….at times he is good, at times he is legendary, but then at times he plays like he is really in Rio, having a good time checking out lasses.

Evra might have a problem with players that cut on his inside, and he often gets exposed by people like Lennon and Assou-Ekotto, and Walcott, just to mention a few. However, given the service he has given to United, I would love to believe this is the one player in my mind you can never taint. What’s more, he is scoring goals this season, how about that! Let’s not start about the assists.

Rafael is lovely when he bursts up with the pace of Cristiano, links up so well with Antonio, but apparently, when he gets to the box, the killer instinct turns into the defender’s instinct – he just gets it right at times but at times he is clueless.

Maybe we could bring in Valencia at this point too…well, at times he plays at RB. I get the fact that he runs like a dynamo, allowing players to create space. What I fail to get is the fact that he JUST STANDS THERE!

Let’s save the likes of Jones, Smalling and Evans for another day of trashing.

Midfield

….on this one I will pass, oh wait..Cleverley….no, I will pass.

Oh, and we need to sort out that Nani issue, because I believe he is indeed a good player, especially when he is in good terms with the Manager…SORT IT OUT

Attack

Van Persie graduates with an A+

Hernandez gets a B- for his effort…and for the world class misses that gives us heart attacks

Welbeck…has to sit for a supplementary exam, C is not a good grade to take home….he plays like a magician, now you see now you don’t…same thing, today he plays well, tomorrow you can’t see him on the field….maybe it’s because at times he is a striker and at times he is a winger, you never know.

Rooney… just do whatever you need to do but get back to who you are paid to be….Some defenders do not even care about marking you anymore. Maybe you can start by quitting the penalty hierarchy and handing it over to someone else. This is a very passionate plea.

Kagawa… I still have nothing of note about this guy. Maybe it’s because he can do the Gangnam better than I can try…tch tch tch!

Good Ol’Fergie

Fergie time, Hair dryer treatment, ref rants…we have seen it all, this old man is pure class. I would hate to see the day when fans do the stuff Arsenal fans are doing to their manager, especially because I know that cannot happen. This old man makes us feel like the Premier League and any other trophy we are challenging was our birthright. But of course they are, I mean, we are Manchester United, right? They all want to beat us, that is why winning is our birthright.

But Sir, please do something about that kid in goal, or Cristiano will, and Jose will have the last laugh!
