Fortnite update v23.40 dropped today, and surprisingly now the theme of the season has shifted from Oathbound to the more action-paced heist mode that the community speculated about long ago. This week's update brought a bunch of exciting new quests and weapons while unvaulting some of the classic ones in Fortnite and four new Reality Augments.

As every major Fortnite update in the past has brought a new set of Augments for players that assist them in completing the quests that week, this time around, a similar structure has been added to the game. The latest Augments help players complete the Most Wanted quests easily so that they can grant them free rewards.

The quest event is also bringing in some new exotic weapons for players to experience that can deal some heavy damage - and we're talking about some builds-breaking "one shot" damage.

To assist players in completing these quests and taking full advantage of the new weapons, four new Reality Augments are added to Fortnite. The following is a list of those Augments and their usage in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1.

Exotic Grab Bag, Sniper Surplus, and more Augments are added to Fortnite update v23.40

Earlier today, four new Reality Augments were leaked to arrive in the new v23.40 Fortnite update. However, it is now confirmed that these Augments are now in-game, according to the official blog.

The four Reality Augments that are added to an existing library of 32 perks are as follows:

  • Exotic Grab Bag - Receive a random Heisted Exotic weapon
  • Sniper Surplus - Your Sniper Rifles will have 1 extra ammo in their magazine
  • Keymaster - Grants two Keys for opening Holo-Chests
  • Last Shots - The last two bullets of your Pistols' magazines deal bonus damage.

These are the Augments that have been added to the latest update as players are eagerly waiting to experience them in a Battle Royale match while running hot on a max heat level. As you can see, each of these Augments is related to granting players a weapon advantage. It seems like the new heist theme will see much more gunplay than building and cranking 90s.

However, the Exotic Grab Bag and Sniper Surplus Augments will be removed in the v23.50 update two weeks from when the Most Wanted event concludes. The Exotic Grab bag grants players a random heisted weapon that consists of a P90, Hop Rock Dualies, Heavy Pistol, and much more. Whereas the Sniper Surplus gives one extra ammo for a scoped sniper that the player is carrying in their loadout.

However, the final two Augments, namely Keymaster and Last shots, are here to stay among the existing 32 perks currently in the game. Through Keymaster, players can easily open a holochest containing an exotic item.

Whereas in Last Shots, players can get more damage power from the last two bullets in a Pistol mag. Combining this Augment with Mythic Munition is bound to be meta at some point during this season.

While a bunch of new cosmetics is also arriving in Fortnite soon, the current Most Wanted event is live now, and players can grab their weapon of choice, eliminate the cold-blooded and win some free rewards in Chapter 4 Season 1.
