The official downtime for Fortnitemares 2022 (update v22.20) is due to occur at 4:00 am Eastern Time. While there's nothing out of the ordinary about this update, it does signify the start of the Halloween season in-game. The content added today will run until the end of October.

As always, players should log out of the game 30 minutes prior to downtime to avoid losing out on their current session. Epic Games will not be held responsible for lost progress or otherwise.

Given that the update v22.20 is a Halloween special, the downtime may be longer than usual. If all the leaks turn out to be true, players can expect to see a plethora of content in-game. If this is the case, the developers will need some time to implement things correctly and ensure everything works as intended.

As with most major updates, the servers shouldn't be down for more than two to three hours. On that note, the developers have already stressed that the update v22.20 for Android players will be larger than usual. Players may experience longer-than-normal installation times. Patience will be key.

New content and changes for Fortnite update v22.20

Unlike the last time Epic Games provided a hint regarding new content being added to Fortnite, there's nothing to officially go on this time around. However, leakers have provided some insight into the type of content players can expect to be added in-game during downtime.

For starters, it goes without saying that details regarding Fortnitemares will be revealed. Everything to-do with the spooky month will be showcased by leakers during downtime.

According to HYPEX and others, the developers have a smörgåsbord being prepared for players.

For starters, there will be a new Halloween Boss that will drop a Mythic weapon and the upcoming Pumpkin Shockwave Launcher when defeated. Based on the files, the NPC is "Freaky" and will be able to spawn "Chrome Zombies" called "Habitat."

It's pretty obvious that this creature serves The Herald or is perhaps a warrior of The Nothing. Either way, players will soon get to see it in combat. Hopefully, it's not too overpowered or is endowed with the ability to be a bullet sponge.

Aside from monsters, POIs will be getting a makeover. Spooky elements will be added to help them blend in for the occasion. Perhaps the Herald Sanctum will get a makeover with pumpkins, skulls, and maybe a few occultic candles, all in Chrome no less. But that's left to be seen.

The crowning jewel of the Fortnite update v22.20 will be the Zero Build Horde Rush LTM. While the normal version of this LTM has been around for some time, the Zero Build variant will add more flavor to the mode. It should go live right after the downtime ends.

"Diagonal Movement" will also be coming to PC. Players will now be able to move diagonally with the press of a key on the keyboard. This will no doubt have an impact on gameplay and affect mobility to a certain extent.

Last but not least, Epic Games will be implementing a number of bug fixes during the Fortnite update v22.20. This includes some major issues such as Port-A-Bunker not being counted when used in different matches, Reboot Cards sinking in water, and water floating above ground on mobile devices.

Hopefully, the fixes issues in update v22.20 will solve these problems once and for all.

It's now time to wait for the servers to go offline and for the downtime to officially begin. So grab a chair, sit down, and join everyone else waiting for Fortnitemares 2022 to begin.
