Fortnite drops major teaser hinting Midas' return in Chapter 4

Midas has been a household name in Fortnite for a long while now, so it comes as no surprise that Donald Mustard dropped a hint about him shortly before Chapter 3 could start. With Chapter 4 just beyond the horizon, the same is being done once again.

Posted on the official Fortnite Twitter account a few hours ago, the snippet showcases Midas and other characters who are near and dear to him. Although the version of Midas used was different from the original, there's no doubt it was a teaser through and through.

How is this Fortnite snippet related to Midas?

Aside from the fact that Midas is in the video, it starts with a loot shark jumping out of the water. Dominion can be seen water-skiing by attaching a fishing rod to the shark.

In the opening moments of the Chapter 2 Season 3 trailer, a loot shark comes out of the water and supposedly devours him. While this cannot be confirmed, it has been a likely theory for years now.

Seeing the same setup in this video cannot be a mere convenience. Given how Epic Games enjoys dropping hints via all mediums, this is more likely to be a teaser. However, there's more to it than a simple video.

While this snippet may not be evidence of Midas' return on its own, when combined with a few leaks, things start adding up. To start, in the v22.40 update, two new hair textures were added to the files.

Oddly enough, they are codenamed "Well_Dressed_Spy." Given that Midas is a 'jack of all trades' with an impeccable fashion sense, there's no one else this could relate to.

Looking back even further, there's yet another piece of evidence to support the Midas theory. During the Fortnite v22.30 update, a spray called Silver and Gold was found in the files. What's interesting about this is that the description of the item reads as follows:

"Leave your mark."

Given that Midas was hellbent on leaving his mark on Fortnite by breaking The Loop, this is yet another piece of the puzzle. Moreover, with Chrome covering his golden hand in the spray, it's not at all random.

That said, with the theory stating that Midas' golden touch can counter Chrome, the snippet from Epic Games may be more than just a teaser for Chapter 4.

Will Midas appear in the Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 4 live event?

Although there have been numerous telltale signs over the course of the year (2022), there's no way to truly predict if Midas will be shown in the live event. Given how many characters there are within the storyline, showing too many of them at once may saturate things.

Furthermore, as it stands, while there have been teasers, hints, and endless theories about Midas, there's no direct link to him in this phase of the storyline. Although he did appear in Fortnitemares 2021, that was a snapshot of him and not the original Midas.

With so many possibilities, it's hard to tell when or where in the story's timeline he'll make a return. It may or may not be during the 'Fracture' live event. Perhaps he'll be waiting with open arms to welcome players to Chapter 4 Season 1, or he may try to break The Loop again further down the line.

With all that said, speculation and guesswork are all that's present at the moment. With no concrete evidence currently available, players will just have to keep a 'golden eye' out to follow future developments.
