The Easter Event in Fortnite has officially begun. After the update v24.10 went live, chickens across the island began laying eggs. Unlike real-life eggs, these provide players with more than just nutrition. When collected, they 'break apart' to reveal items/perks that can be put to good use in the online multiplayer game.

As is tradition, players are being tasked with gathering laid eggs on the island. While this may seem rather mundane to most players, there's a hefty amount of experience points to be earned in the process.

Here's a step-by-step guide on how to gather laid Eggs in Fortnite

1) Find a Chicken

Perhaps the only difficult step in this challenge is finding a chicken. Although these creatures are generally found all over the island, they never show up when you really need them. That said, Frenzy Fields will be a good place to start your search. Since it's a farm, it seems obvious that chickens will be found in and around the area.

2) Wait for it to lay Eggs

After you find a chicken, wait for it to lay an egg. However, in most cases, an egg should already be present next to the chicken. Since they lay eggs after certain intervals of time, you should be able to find one on the ground itself rather than wait for the chicken to lay one. Once you're close enough, use the Interact button to gather it.

Alternative method to gather laid Eggs in Fortnite

Since this Fortnite Spring Breakout Challenge has three stages, the number of eggs that must be gathered increases after each stage. That said, it will take some time to gather that many eggs. This could perhaps even take a couple of matches to complete. Thankfully, there's a neat little trick that players can use to speed up the process.

1) Find a Chicken

The first step of this Fortnite Spring Breakout Challenge is to find a chicken and catch it. As always, approach the creature as quietly as possible to avoid startling and scaring it away. Once you're close enough, use Sprint to rush forward and grab it.

2) Lock it inside a building to speed up the Egg laying process

For some strange reason, chickens tend to lay more eggs indoors than outdoors. This has led to players figuring out how to 'farm' eggs quickly. Once the chicken has been secured, look for a building and enter it. You must then close the door and keep the chicken inside. After some time, there will be more eggs inside this building than players will ever need.

It's unclear why this occurs, but it may be due to a glitch or bug of some sort. Keep in mind that while this works with buildings that are already present on the map, it may not work with player builds. Furthermore, this may get patched out as soon as it comes on Epic Games' radar.
