Bots are probably the most ambivalent thing in Fortnite. It's all fun and games killing bots when you grind to level up, but when competing in an intense battle royale, they can be a hindrance. Their existence will forever remain a point of contention amongst players.

Bot lobbies are no different. Getting into one is easy, but getting out is a Herculean task. Unfortunately, there is a dependable approach to getting out of the bot lobbies aside from leveling up. Players can only get out once their stats are at par with the minimum requirements of the game.

Skill-based match making (SBMM) has been mired in controversy since it was launched at the beginning of Fortnite Chapter 2. Since then, SBMM has been revised multiple times, but to no avail.

Bot lobbies in Fortnite can be tough to navigate

Currently, the only way out of the bot lobby is by leveling up. Players who regularly get matched in bot lobbies need to grind and rise through the ranks. However, just improving one's account level won't suffice.

Players first need to understand how SBMM works and how they are matched as per their skill set. This is where Fortnite stats come in. The matchmaking system assesses a player's performance based on key metrics like K/D (Kill/Death) ratio and win ratio.

Once a player is at par with the minimum requirements, they will automatically start getting matched with other players who share similar skill sets. To counter bot lobbies, one needs to play better and focus on improving key metrics.

SBMM is still flawed

Despite being mired in controversy, SBMM is very much intact as of Fortnite Chapter 4. While to some it may seem like an efficient system that accommodates new players in the game, the bigger picture, however, dictates a totally different story.

When a player begins playing the game, they usually face bot lobbies. Once a player becomes competent at playing against bots, they are then matched with other players who possess better skill sets. All of a sudden, it's a new sphere. Players can't keep up with those in the same bracket and often lose the impetus to pursue the game.

Workaround

While there is no single approach that can help players get out of the bot lobbies, they should bear in mind the drawbacks of SBMM and how it affects their gameplay. Players should focus on improving their skills rather than chasing Victory Royale.

Players can also team up with friends/other players who rank higher. While this won't completely remove the bots, they will face a lower ratio of bots. Social tags are a new feature in Fortnite that can help players find other players with similar interests.

Bots are omnipresent in battle royale. Players can only get respite if they play ranked Arena matches. However, that in itself is another challenging task.
