With the introduction of the Japanese theme in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2, a lot of the country's architectural and cultural influences have been showcased in the game. Characteristic aspects such as bamboo forests, Kinetic Blade dueling arenas, dojos, and even a hot spring have popped up on the island.

That said, for one of this week's challenges, players must immerse themselves in healing waters at a hot spring to restore their health. Since this mechanic/feature is still a secret to many, this challenge will unravel the mystery behind the POI known as Steamy Springs.

Here's a step-by-step guide on how to restore health in a hot spring in Fortnite

As such, there are two ways to complete this unique challenge. One method involves taking damage from opponents and then restoring health in a hot spring, while the alternative is inflicting damage to oneself and healing up in a hot spring.

1) Sustaining damage and restoring health in a hot spring

This particular method is fairly straightforward and requires little to no effort, but it can be rather risky depending on how 'sweaty' opponents are. The goal is simple: sustain damage and then restore some health by taking a dip in a hot spring.

2) Self-inflicting damage and restoring health in a hot spring

This method is slightly more complex, but safer on the whole. Rather than leaving it up to an enemy to inflict damage, players can damage themselves in a controlled manner by using Firefly Jars.

Once set ablaze, you must lose the desired amount of hit-points and jump into the healing-water to regain health. Since fire doesn't 'chip away' at shields, players will only lose health points that can be restored by entering a hot spring.

Where to find hot springs in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2?

Hot springs can be found in the POI known as Steamy Springs. They can be broadly categorized into two types: open and sheltered hot springs. Open hot springs are water bodies that offer no protection from any side, while sheltered hot springs or 'hot-baths' have walls that provide some basic cover.

All of them can be found on the eastern side of the POI. Those wanting to complete the challenge as quickly as possible should limit themselves to the area on the east-side of the bridge that divides the POI. However, for those that intend on locking down the POI and securing the Capture Point, a bit of exploration will be needed.

When under attack from an enemy, the hot springs will offer some respite, but given how slowly they restore health, they aren't really the best option. Rather than using them as an active means to recover hit-points, players should only rely on them when they aren't under threat of enemy fire.

That said, hot springs are still useful as players can use them to slowly recover hit-points and avoid using stored healing items. This will allow them to keep their inventory stocked and prepared for future encounters.
