Fortnite leak reveals 8 Exotic weapons arriving in Chapter 4 Season 2

Based on the latest Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2 leaks, roughly eight new exotic weapons have been found in the game files. According to veteran leaker iFireMonkey, they are either upcoming or have been scrapped for various reasons. Here's the list:

• Balloon Sniper
• Gas Sniper
• Slug Projectile Shotgun
• Flare Shotgun
• Rift Pistol
• Gas Grenade Launcher
• Firefly Grenade Launcher
• Boogie Bomb Grenade Launcher

Aside from the Firefly Grenade Launcher, which was showcased via leaks this season, everything else on the list is brand new. Some of the exotic weapons seem almost too good to be true, and based on their speculated functionality, they are rather broken to an extent.

Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2 Exotic weapon breakdown

Barring the Firefly Grenade Launcher, everything is new, and it isn't known how they might work in-game. Thankfully, given that most weapons are spinoffs of existing ones or variants, it's easy enough to understand how they might function.

The Balloon Sniper should work similarly to the Party Time Reality Augment. When used, the player will have a balloon attached to them, allowing them to lift themselves into the air. This would give them a clear line of sight to use the sniper at long range.

Next up, the Gas Sniper will likely work similarly to the Charge Shotgun. Players will be able to charge or 'gas up' the weapon before firing. This will likely increase its damage output at the cost of the fire rate.

The Slug Projectile and Flare Shotgun are rather straightforward, that's if the naming scheme is accurate and not merely a placeholder. Like the Heavy Shotgun, the Slug Projectile may fire one round at an enemy to deal a lot of damage.

The Flare Shotgun, on the other hand, may function similarly to the Flare Gun. However, given that this is Fortnite and Chapter 4 Season 2 will be futuristic in nature, it's hard to tell how this weapon may function.

The Gas Grenade Launcher, if added to the game, will probably become the most hated item in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2. It will likely inflict damage similar to that of Stink Bombs. Players caught within a cloud of smoke will take damage over time unless they move out of it.

Boogie Bomb Grenade Launcher is a great concept (and something a lot of OG players would love), but it will probably never get added to the game. If it does, it will function similarly to the 'OG' Boogie Bomb, with the difference being that players will be able to shoot the projectile further away.

Last but not least, the Rift Pistol is an interesting naming scheme for a weapon. Many are speculating that this exotic weapon has already been showcased via cinematic video at the end of Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 8. Jonesy was seen using it after he was rescued by The Foundation.

If this holds true, the Rift Pistol will probably be one of the most entertaining exotics in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2. The weapon's projectile will probably look similar to that of the Plasma Cannon. Nevertheless, it remains to be seen what Epic Games has in mind.

When can players expect to see these new Exotic weapons in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2?

Considering that NPCs mostly sell exotic weapons in Fortnite, there's a good chance that at least two from the list will be added at the start of the new season. That said, there's no guarantee of this happening as older (and more stable) exotics from past seasons are usually the first to be introduced.

For the time being, there's no exact date as to when players can expect to see these new exotic weapons in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2. It could be during mid-season, towards the very end of the season, or perhaps not at all. Players will have to patiently wait for more information.
