Fortnite player gets an impossible game-breaking bounty in Chapter 4

The Bounty system was introduced in Fortnite at the start of Chapter 2 Season 5, allowing players to interact with characters on the island and accept what was then called a "Bounty Quest." The following season, this was replaced with the Bounty Board. Rather than interacting with an NPC, players can now interact with this board to get a Bounty Target.

These 'targets' must be hunted with extreme prejudice and eliminated before the timer runs out. Those who manage to complete the task earn Gold Bars and a certain amount of experience points to eliminate the target in question. But what happens when the Bounty Target just so happens to be the player who accepts the contract?

Players becomes their own 'Bounty' in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2

It's unclear how this happened, but a player by the name of "Exploding_Tomato," became their own Bounty Target in Fortnite. While the notion that this could occur is outlandish, relevant screenshots were posted as proof. It clearly shows that the player is being 'targeted' and tasked with hunting the 'target' which just so happens to be themselves.

As odd as this may seem, it's 'possible' that this image was edited to keep up with the April Fool's spirit, but it's hard to confirm this statement. However, despite it being posted a day later, it still managed to catch the attention of the community. As of today, April 7, 2023, the tweet has 152,700 views and over 3,300 likes. The answer is a bit more complicated than a simple yes or no. For those players interacting with a Bounty Board to find a target, eliminate them, and be handsomely rewarded, they will be sorely disappointed. Successfully executing a Bounty rewards only 75 Gold Bars. As such, it's far easier to 'farm' gold by opening Registers and Vaults.

On the other hand, the Bounty Board can be used to obtain real-time information about the whereabouts of an opponent. Players can then use this to track them down and get the drop on them with ease. With Heavy Snipers back in the game, they can even eliminate them from a distance.

This information is useful during the end-game stage of the match. With each player not wanting to reveal their position to others, a Bounty Board can help break that stalemate. Players who manage to accept a Bounty Contract will be able to find their opponents with ease.
