Fortnite players are getting a secret pickaxe from Feb 1 onwards, check your eligibility

Obtaining 'secret' cosmetics in Fortnite can be challenging as they are not always clearly advertised. The latest addition to these secret items is a pickaxe called The Masterwork Pickaxe.

While it may not seem like a lot, for an in-game collector, having every cosmetic item that's in-game is their pride and joy. Here's how to determine if you're eligible to receive a secret pickaxe.

Obtain the Masterwork Pickaxe towards the end of Chapter 4 Season 1 by subscribing to Fortnite Crew

Those interested in obtaining The Masterwork Pickaxe will have to first subscribe to Fortnite Crew for the months of February and March. Depending on the billing cycle, beginning the subscription in the middle of one month should provide the rewards from both months.

For instance, if users subscribe to the service in mid-February, they will be eligible to obtain the Crew Pack for February and March. That said, newcomers to the subscription service should keep in mind that it costs real-world money. V-Bucks cannot be used to subscribe to Crew.

Once players receive the Crew Packs for February and March, they will automatically receive The Masterwork Pickaxe. This is nothing more than a Harvesting Tool and does not grant the user any in-game advantage.

In addition to the bonus reward (The Masterwork Pickaxe), February Crew Pack owners will also receive the Forging the Future - Loading Screen sometime later in the month. This will likely coincide with the big reveal for the March 2023 Crew Pack.

Is it worth purchasing the Fortnite Crew Pack for February?

This question will have to be looked at from two different perspectives. The first is the aesthetic value of the skin that's available in the Crew Pack for February. Based on reactions from the community, Sylvie is already generating a lot of hype on social media.

Given Chapter 1 Season 4's medieval theme, her style fits perfectly into the game and adds a lot of aesthetic value. However, the show-stealer is undoubtedly the Groaker Back Bling. It's a fire-breathing pet that will cheer the user on by burping fire every time the player opens a chest or secures an elimination.

Apart from the aesthetic value of the exclusive skin and cosmetics, first-time Crew Pack subscribers have a lot to gain in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1. They will receive the Seasonal Battle Pass, Photonic Legacy Set, and 1,000 V-Bucks. If users subscribe towards the end of January, they will receive the Crew Pack for the month of February as well.

Crew Packs typically provide good value for money, but the Gildhart skin in the January Crew Pack may not be considered the best by some players as it does not stand out much. However, this is a matter of personal opinion.

On that note, since the bonus rewards will be given to February and March Crew Pack subscribers, it's best to consider joining the Crew in February. With Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1 ending on March 10, 2023, players who are at seasonal level 150 and above will have enough time to complete the Battle Pass as well.
