How to fly with a zombie chicken in Fortnite

Since the start of Fortnitemares 2022, zombie chickens have been freely roaming around the island. Unlike normal chickens that are adorable and cluck to the tune of Ride of the Valkyries, zombie chickens are rather aggressive in nature.

Nevertheless, the developers have decided to give players a run for their XP by tasking them to fly with a zombie chicken in Fortnite. Those who manage to complete the challenge will earn 15,000 XP.

A step-by-step guide on how to find and fly with a zombie chicken in Fortnite

1) Land east of Greasy Grove at Reality Roots or Overtaken Outpost

Although there's no shortage of zombie chickens on the island, they do not spawn everywhere. Since they are organic matter, they tend to roam around parts of the island that haven't been consumed by Chrome. One of these places is the decaying reality biome.

Along the river that divides the reality biome from the desert, a total of six zombie chickens spawn at the southern part of this location. Since these areas hold no strategic value, hardly anyone lands here. This makes it the safest place on the map to complete this challenge.

2) Find a zombie chicken or let one find you

The next stage of this challenge is to look for a zombie chicken. It's highly recommended that you secure healing items before attempting this task. Given that zombie chickens attack on sight, it's not in your best interest to take damage from them.

That said, those who have the sound visualization option enabled will be able to keep track of any zombie chicken in the area. However, be warned that they are fast and rather sneaky as well. If you aren't careful, a zombie chicken will find you before you find them.

3) Dodge its opening attack and grab it (or grab it before it can attack)

Once the zombie chicken comes into view, you will have to be quick on the draw and grab them. If this task cannot be carried out successfully in the opening seconds of the encounter, you will get attacked and sustain damage.

Alternatively, you can also dodge the attack and then grab the zombie chicken before it can attack again. Be warned, since they often move in herds (as is the zombie mentality), there will be more than one nearby. As soon as the zombie chicken is grabbed, it's best to move out of the immediate area.

Note: To grab or interact with the zombie chicken, players will have to press the interactive button. This will vary from device to device.

4) Fly 75 meters while holding the zombie chicken

Once you've grabbed the zombie chicken, the last stage of the challenge can be executed. You have to keep hold of the zombie chicken and fly 75 meters. To do so, all you have to do is move forward and jump.

With the zombie chicken in hand, you will be able to fly and stay airborne every time you jump. Since zombie chickens mitigate fall damage in Fortnite, it can be done from great heights as well. Once 75 meters have been covered, you will earn 15,000 XP.
