How to join the Junji Ito Creative Map in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1

The Fortnite Junji Ito Haunted House Creative Map is currently live in the popular battle royale title. Following the release of Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre on Netflix, players can now experience the same in-game.

To join in on this custom-made experience, players must navigate to the Discovery Tab, click on "Island Code," and enter this code 9800-8851-4190. Once done, after a short wait, players will be whisked away to the creative experience.

Although the Junji Ito Haunted House Creative Map shares some similarities with the anime on Netflix, things have been dialed down a fair bit due to the PG-13 ratings. Nevertheless, for fans of the show and those who follow Junji Ito, it's a fun experience nonetheless.

Does this mean that there will be an official Fortnite x Junji Ito collaboration?

Given that the Creative Map in Fortnite being dedicated to Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre was promoted by the verified account NetflixAnime, it seems as if this is being pushed from Netflix's end. However, that's not the case.

Although the account does have a verified status on Twitter, it's not an official account run by Netflix, but is more of a fanpage for all anime shows on the platform. That said, cross-promoting a Creative Map in Fortnite is still rather strange. As a result, many have come to the conclusion that an official collaboration will occur.

Sadly, although speculation and wishful thinking point towards a potential collaboration, the creator of "Junji Ito Maniac Haunted House," NEIGHBOR, has already mentioned the exact opposite. In one of the pictures shared by the Twitter account NetflixAnime, there is a disclaimer in small print, which reads:

While many 'clickbait' content creators will try to sell the narrative that this is an official collaboration, that's not true in any way. Although this is a very cool way to cross-promote a Creative Map in Fortnite, nothing about it is official.

With that being said, it's still worth giving the Creative Map a try. Furthermore, since the map has XP enabled, those who play it will earn some XP, if not a lot. Given the numerous activities that players can partake in, quite a fair amount of time can be spent on this custom-made map.

Would a Japanese horror collaboration work in Fortnite?

With anime becoming the new norm in-game, horror collaborations with manga artists such as Junji Ito and Kazuo Umezu could potentially work. Considering that Epic Games is churning out collaborations with various anime such as Dragon Ball, My Hero Academia, and Naruto, it's only a matter of time before more genres are explored.

That said, since the game is PG-13, there will be several reactions and rules that will have to be followed to create 'acceptable' cosmetics and in-game experiences. Nevertheless, considering that the developers have implemented several characters in-game that are on the other side of the PG-13 threshold, this shouldn't be a problem.

On that note, with rumors rife in the air of another major upcoming anime collaboration (Attack on Titan), the horror-genre will have to take a back seat, at least for now. Perhaps one day, players will be able to cosplay as their favorite characters from Japanese horror manga. Until then, those currently available in-game will have to suffice.
