Is Deku Smash disabled in Fortnite? Yes, based on official information provided by the game developers, this Mythic item has been disabled. Epic Games has not mentioned the reason behind the decision.

Considering that the Deku Smash Mythic worked as intended in-game, it's rather perplexing why it would be vaulted after so many days. According to the community, the most logical reason behind this could be that the Mythic item is too overpowered.

However, considering that players have been able to counter opponents who were using the item, this alone cannot be the reason. If anything, Deku Smash was the highlight of the My Hero Academia crossover into Fortnite. Without it, the collaboration seems rather dry.

When will the Deku Smash Mythic be re-added to Fortnite?

Since it's unclear exactly what the problem is, trying to come up with a timeline for the Mythic item's return will not make any sense. If anything, with the collaboration ending on December 29, 2022, Epic Games will try to fix the issue as soon as possible.

Players should also prepare themselves for the worst possible outcome: Deku Smash not being added to the loot pool ever again.

However, according to some players, the item is still available in-game even after the developers mentioned that it was disabled.

Players are reportedly able to find the Deku Smash in All Might Supply Drops and Vending Machines. It would seem that Epic Games forgot about disabling them. Unfortunately, it cannot be verified if the item is still working as intended in Fortnite. Hopefully, the issue will be resolved quickly.

Was the Deku Smash Mythic disabled due to it being overpowered?

While this is a general assumption, it's unlikely to be the cause behind the item being disabled. Since players can dodge the incoming attack, it's not exactly "broken."

The attack can be dodged using Augments in Fortnite, such as Aerialist and Soaring Sprints. The Shockwave Hammer can also be used to dodge the attack. Furthermore, since Deku Smash takes time to fully charge up, players using it can be beamed and knocked out or eliminated.

Given the damage output of the Red-Eye Assault Rifle and DMR, landing a few headshots will render the opponent's Deku Smash useless. That said, not everyone has been lucky enough to be able to counter the attack. Since it does AOE damage, even staying on the edge of the blast radius can be devastating.

On that note, if and when Deku Smash Mythic is added back to the loot pool, the damage output may be nerfed a bit. While this will be disappointing for hardcore fans, it should make countering the Mythic more palatable for the majority of the Fortnite community.

Then again, if the item is indeed nerfed, the entire point of having it in-game will become moot. Players are better off spamming the fire button on the Snowball Launcher during combat. It takes no time to charge up and can be fired six times before having to be reloaded.
