The first season of Fortnite Chapter 4 was originally supposed to end on March 10. However, Epic Games changed its end date to March 8 a few weeks ago, which is why many players thought the new season would also be released on the same date.

Unfortunately, that does not appear to be the case. It seems that we may experience a lengthy downtime. Epic Games released the first-ever Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2 teaser on Tuesday, March 7, revealing the release date alongside.

As mentioned in the tweet above, the new season will be out on Friday. Epic is yet to change the end date of the current season but did give a clarification about when the downtime will start.
