The official Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2 Launch Gameplay Trailer has been revealed, and by the looks of it, there's a lot of content that has been confirmed. Although leakers have been keeping tabs on everything that's coming, seeing it in-game is different altogether.

There's a lot to see and do this season. Starting with the map changes right down to the newly released Katana, which is already looking like an 'OP' melee-weapon. With that said, here are the patch notes for the update v24.00 aka Fortnite Mega - Chapter 4 Season 2.

Epic Games has confirmed the addition of three new weapons in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2. The first is a Smart Pistol that has an auto-lock feature to make targeting easier. However, the bullets travel in a straight path (unlike the smart weapons featured in Cyberpunk 2077) and cannot shoot opponents behind cover. Nonetheless, it's a welcome addition to the arsenal.

The second weapon is the Havoc Suppressed Assault Rifle, which is expected to have a silenced effect, and the third is the Pump Shotgun, which looks to be a formidable close-range weapon.

2) Katana/Kinetic Blade

Since the Shockwave Hammer being a seasonally-themed melee weapon, it was obvious that Epic Games would replace it with something else in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2. While the Shockwave Hammer is cool, there's nothing cooler than using a Katana/Kinetic Blade to air-dash towards an opponent and slice them down.

Players will still have to rely on normal attacks for the most part, but the special attack seems to be absolutely devastating. It's very similar to Ash's Phase Breach ability from Apex Legends. That said, given how powerful this special attack is, it's a good thing that only three charges can be stored at once.

3) Grind Rails/grinding mechanic

Prior to the official reveal by Epic Games, Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2's new Grind Rails and Grinding mechanics had already been leaked by data miners. Although the leakers had already hinted at how exciting these new features would be, experiencing them in-game is an entirely different experience.

Grind Rails can be used to navigate quickly within the Mega City POI and other high-rise buildings in the game. With the upcoming Grind Rail Heal Reality Augment, players may even be able to regenerate hit points while Grinding.

4) New POIs and map changes

Given that the island has been re-forged with pieces from different realities, most expect Epic Games to bring small map changes in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2. However, the developers have seemingly done the exact opposite. Based on what was showcased in the teaser and trailer, the entire island has been changed.

Every nook and cranny of the island has given a Japanese vibe to it. Be it futuristic or old-school, the theme has been implemented thoroughly. That said, apart from the Mega City POI, a Dojo POI of sorts has been showcased. While it does take inspiration from Lucky Landing, it's quite different in design.

In addition to the Japanese theme and new POIs/landmarks, a floating island has also appeared on the map. According to leakers, this floating island will contain high-tier loot. That said, it's still unclear how players will reach the island.

5) Battle Pass outfits

The Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2 Battle Pass has everything going right for it, and the Outfits showcased have created quite a sitr within the community. While unlocking them all will take some time, the grind will surely be worth it. With that said, here are the names of the Outfits in the Battle Pass:

  • Thunder
  • Mystica
  • Eren Yeager
  • Mizuki
  • Imani
  • Highwire
  • Stray
  • Renzo The Destroyer

In addition to the Outfits, there will be Mid-Season styles as well in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2. Epic Games will no doubt follow the same pattern that they implemented last season and release them one by one.

6) New vehicles

As seen in the teaser and trailer, a number of new vehicles are coming to Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2. With the theme being based around a futuristic Japanese aesthetic, all vehicles that were in-game have been remodeled and given a neon vibe.

According to the leakers, one new car and bike have been seemingly confirmed to feature in-game. In addition, it's very likely that the bike on which Shōtarō Kaneda rides in Akira will also be coming to the game sometime down the line. That said, it's best to keep in mind that this is a rumor based on a hint that was provided by Donald Mustard.

7) New Reality Augments

Epic Games has confirmed that new Reality Augments will be introduced in Chapter 4 Season 2. Given the number of Reality Augments added in the previous season, players can expect new ones to be introduced this season as well. On that note, eight Reality Augments have potentially been confirmed to be added once the downtime ends. Here is the list:

  • Hunters Armory
  • Treasure Hunter
  • Munitions Slide
  • Slap Surplus
  • Dumpster Diving
  • Medium Ammo Amp
  • Shotgun Recycle
  • Dignified Finish
