Six new bows were added to Fortnite during Chapter 2 Season 6. Despite the community being divided in their opinion about this ranged weapon, they managed to carve a niche for themselves.

Sadly, once the Primal season ended, they were all vaulted. Although they were available in Creative Mode and featured during special mini-event weeks, they weren't a part of the official loot pool.

All of this changed in Chapter 4 Season 1 when Epic Games decided it would be a good time to reintroduce bows to Fortnite. While the four basic variants of the bow are easy to find, the two exotic types are slightly harder to obtain.

Every Bow location in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1

To make finding bows easier, it's best to split the list into two parts: Rare - Legendary tiers and Exotic. With that said, here's where to find them.

All four bows (Primal Flame/Stick and Mechanical Explosive/Shockwave bows) can be found in chests, rare chests, and picked up as floor loot. They spawn in every POI, so finding them should be a breeze. That said, finding a higher tier bow will require players to secure higher-tier chests.

Mechanical and Shockwave bows can also be acquired by taking the "Mechanical Archer" Augment in-game. Players will immediately receive one of each type after this Augment has been selected.

The two Exotic Bows (Grappler and Unstable) can only be acquired by purchasing them from specific NPCs on the island. Here are their locations:

The Grappler Bow can be purchased from Princess Felicity Fish located at Western Watch, while the Unstable Bow can be purchased from the NPC Wild Card at Breakwater Bay or Shattered Slabs. Purchasing these weapons from the NPCs will cost 500 gold bars each.

Grappler vs Unstable: Which Exotic Bow is better is better in Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 1?

Although both bows have the same price, they are quite different in functionality and utility. The Grappler Bow's predominant function is mobility, allowing players to travel long distances without incurring fall damage. If required, it can be used in combat as well.

The Unstable Bow, on the other hand, is a 'mix and match' combat item. Basically, after every arrow is fired, the Unstable Bow changes its type. As its name implies, this weapon cycles between the other bow variants in-game, i.e. Fire, Stink, Explosive, and Shockwave.

To answer the question of which Exotic Bow is better, it all boils down to individual choice and the prevalent situation. In combat, the Unstable Bow is the best option, while the Grappler Bow is perfect for long-range mobility.

However, with Trail Thrasher dirt bikes and Augments such as 'Party Time,' 'Soaring Sprints,' and 'More Parkour' offering mobility for free, the Grappler Bow seems too pricey.

On the other hand, the ability to bombard opponents with four different types of attacks is well worth 500 gold bars. Given that enemies won't be able to anticipate the type of incoming arrow, they are likely to get confused and lose the fight. At the same time, given its unpredictability, mastering this weapon will take practice.
