Netherlands is one of the most successful European hockey nations. They have won the tournament three times. In the 1990s, Netherlands were the best men's hockey team in the world. During this period, they won the title twice and ended runners up once.

In the last couple of decades, Netherlands have failed to win the title. So in this year's tournament, they will try and reclaim the World Cup crown after a gap of 20 years.
