Video: Argentina and Australia progress to Hockey World League semis

Argentina and Australia are through to the semi-finals of the Hockey World League semi-finals after victories in London on Thursday.

Top of Pool A with a perfect record of three wins out of three, Argentina’s reward was a quarter-final tie against last-placed South Africa in Pool B.

Silvina D’Elia put Argentina in front in the 19th minute.

But the South Africans battled hard and they were rewarded twelve minutes into the second half.

Pietie Coetzee enjoyed a stroke of fortune.

Argentina were not to be denied though.

D’Elia made it 2-1.

And two minutes from time, Rosario Luchetti ensured Argentina’s place in the last four.

3-1 the final score.

The second-quarter-final of the day saw Australia take on USA.

Emily Smith provided a moment of magic to put the favourites ahead.

But the Americans struck back.

But Karri McMahon and Jodie Schulz sealed the 4-1 win for Australia, who will play China in the semi-finals.
