Patricio O’Ward is a professional racing driver from Mexico. He drives as a full-time racer in the IndyCar Racing Series. For the 2025 season, he competes in IndyCar while driving the No. 5 Chevrolet for the Arrow McLaren Racing team. Born and raised in Mexico, Pato was the younger son of Patricio O’Ward Sr. and Elba Junco. During his childhood days, their parents shifted to Texas, United States. He and his sister studied high school in San Antonio and Austin.
O’Ward started his racing career at a very young age. He joined karting training sessions in 2005 and raced in karting until 2012. In 2013, he progressed through Formula Renault 2.0 NEC and Pacific F2000 and debuted in the FIA Formula 4 Championship for the first time in 2014. His first major trophy came in 2018 when he won the Indy Lights Championship with the Andretti Autosport racing team.
