Premax Skincare, an Australia-based performance skincare brand “designed for active people,” claims to formulate products that are made to work with the skin and not against it. Their range of products is supposed to protect the skin from common issues that athletes face, including sunburn, chafing, saddle sores, blisters, windburn, and chlorine damage.

The brand, founded by sports therapist, Randall Cooper, also features Australian-native natural ingredients like Kakadu Plum, Lemon Myrtle, Desert Lime, and Macadamia oil in their formulas.

According to their website, Premax Skincare’s line of performance-based skincare products are all Australian-made and are “tested on athletes, not animals.”

6 Premax Skincare performance products

For skincare seekers who are on the hunt for performance-based skincare products, we’ve curated the six best Premax Skincare products for athletes.

  • Sunscreen for Sport
  • Chamois Cream
  • Anti-Friction Balm
  • Arnica Massage Cream
  • Warm Up Cream Formula EP5
  • Clarifying Shampoo De-Chlorine

1) Sunscreen for Sport

Premax Skincare’s sunscreen for sport has a dry and non-greasy texture that is rated with broad-spectrum SPF 50+ protection against UVA and UVB. With a claim of water and sweat resistance for up to four hours, this sport sunscreen can be used by anyone who works out and sweats for hours or is swimming.

It is a chemical sunscreen with Homosalate and Octocrylene as key sun-screening actives along with aloe vera to give a mildly cooling sensation and hydration that is supposed to soothe the skin while under the sun.

Price: $20 (AUD)

2) Chamois Cream

A product designed for cyclists, this chamois cream has both nourishing and antibacterial ingredients. With a base formula containing caprylic from coconut oil, tea tree oil, neem, and aloe vera, applying this product on the skin or the chamois and other body-saddle contact areas before cycling is supposed to protect the skin from saddle sores.

Premax Skincare’s chamois cream comes in male and female-specific formulas, which differ in the additional ingredients they have. While the chamois cream for men has shea butter, vitamin E, and borage oil, the “for women” version has rosehip oil, quandong, desert lime, wattleseed, and macadamia seed oil.

Price: $35 (AUD)

3) Anti-Friction Balm

A lightweight and non-greasy formula, this balm is supposed to protect the skin from chafing and blisters. It’s also made to resist water, humidity, and sweat, which makes it suitable for any physical activity. With a blend of caprylic, beeswax, and tea tree oil, it claims to moisturize, boost the skin barrier, and provide lubrication as well as fight bacteria and infection.

Pick from a men-specific Anti-Friction Balm, which has aloe vera, mandarin peel oil, and soya bean, or the “form women” version, which has aloe vera, shea butter, and oil blend from rosehip, evening primrose, and avocado.

Price: $22 (AUD)

4) Arnica Massage Cream

This Arnica Massage Cream from Premax Skincare’s line features a silky-smooth texture that is supposed to help assist in recovery from workouts and sports. With a trio of ingredients, including arnica, ginger root, and magnesium, which are known anti-inflammatory ingredients, this product claims to relieve bumps, bruises, and soreness.

There is also aloe vera that gives the formula a mildly cooling effect as well as plant butters and oils for helping boost hydration and skin health.

Price: $39 (AUD)

5) Warm Up Cream Formula EP5

The heat cream’s formula is mainly Premax Skincare’s proprietary Hotflux ingredient, which claims to give the skin a gentle warming and low irritation effect. With added sodium bicarbonate, caffeine, and magnesium, the warmup cream can be used before workouts or sports to prepare the skin and muscles for activity.

It also stands out from other warmup creams with the combined scent and anti-bacterial properties of lime, grapefruit, and sweet orange.

Price: $25 (AUD)

6) Clarifying Shampoo De-Chlorine

A swim-specific shampoo, this hair product has a clarifying formula that is supposed to help remove impurities, chlorine, salt water, and green tint from the hair and scalp. It also has Australian native ingredients that claim to cut through chlorine and mineral buildup, including lemon myrtle and desert lime.

Added kakadu plum, macadamia seed oil, and coconut oil provide nutrients that are supposed to nourish, moisturize, and make the hair shiny and stronger.

Price: $24 (AUD)
