Over 15 years, Mojang Studios has created loads of features for Minecraft. While most of what players can do or see in the sandbox is intentional, some features are not always planned and were accidentally introduced. They are massively popular now. Moreover, a few even became the face of the game itself.

That said, here is a list of Minecraft features that were accidentally made and became extremely popular.

5 beloved accidental Minecraft features

1) Creation of Creepers

Creepers are one of the most iconic mobs in Minecraft. Though extremely annoying, many in the community feel they are an integral part of the gameplay experience. However, creepers came into existence accidentally. When Mojang Studios was creating a pig for the game, they unintentionally made the wrong model for the mob, and it did not look anything like the animal.

Marcus "Notch" Persson, the game's creator, was amused by this model and decided to make a creepy creature out of it. The result was the popular mob called Creeper.

2) Creation of Villagers

Villagers are one of the best mobs for players to interact with in Minecraft. They dwell in villages and can trade various items with players. However, they were initially not the mobs that were meant to stay in Overworld villages. Mojang Studios initially thought of adding pigmen to the Overworld and making them live in villages. To this day, their skin can be found in the game files.

The addition of pigmen was scrapped and instead, villagers were added to the game. However, pigmen were later added to the Nether realm.

3) Farlands

The Farlands were a defect in the terrain generation process that emerged after Minecraft's terrain-shaping noise generators ceased to work correctly. This led to the appearance of a large, spongy wall of land, approximately 12,550,821 blocks away from the world's spawn point.

Though this glitch was rectified by Mojang Studios, it quickly became famous within the community. Since it was millions of blocks away from the world spawn, some players even took up the challenge to walk the whole map just to reach the area where the glitch took place.

4) Crawling

The crawling animation was added when Mojang Studios added the elytra to Minecraft. However, the animation was glitched and remained so for some players. Later, when swimming was added to the game, the animation had a new purpose but was still glitched, as some players kept crawling on one block of high and wide areas even without water.

This glitch was so popular in Java Edition that it became a dedicated feature. It was later added to Bedrock Edition, allowing players to activate it using trapdoors and pistons.

5) Zombified Piglin XP glitch

Zombified Piglins are the most common neutral mobs that spawn in the Nether realm and can be seen by players when they enter the Hellish realm. The corrupted piglins have special features that they can aggro on a player, besides rallying other zombified piglins to become hostile.

Like every other mob, these creatures also drop XP points when they are killed. They are also the only ones who will drop them even if they are not killed by a wolf or a player. The only condition is that they should remain angered.

This was previously reported as a bug by many. Though Mojang Studios fixed it in one of the snapshots, they undid the change and have used the glitch as a feature.

This mechanic is loved by many in the community, as it allows them to create complete AFK gold and XP farms.
