Minecraft Small Ships mod guide: Features and how to download

Minecraft has a massive world in which players can explore all kinds of biomes. Almost 50% of the world is filled with a variety of ocean biomes. When players explore the world, they usually craft a boat to set sail across massive oceans. Despite oceans being such a massive part of the game's world, Mojang has not really added any detailed boat or ship-related features.

Hence, some modders from the community took it upon themselves and created a brilliant mod called Small Ships. Here is everything to know about the Minecraft mod.

Small Ships is a great mod that adds a bunch of new kinds of complex boats and ships to craft in Minecraft.

Players start off by crafting a sail, which can then be combined with different items to craft new boats and ships. In the picture above, a sail is combined with three leads, two chests, and three boats to create a galley, one of four boats the mod adds to the game.

Each boat added with the mod has its unique mechanics. While some are best for cold biomes, others are great in warm biomes. Each of them has different carrying capacities, speeds, repairing costs, and more.

Apart from creating new boats, players can also make them warships by crafting a cannon using three blocks of iron, two wood logs, and one string, while the cannon balls can be crafted using eight iron ingots and one gunpowder.

These cannons can then be placed on the ships and shot towards other ships or players.

How to download and install the Small Ships mod for Minecraft?

Here is a short guide on downloading and installing the Small Ships mod for Minecraft:

Download and install the Fabric or Forge mod loader for the game version 1.21.4.
Head to the Modrinth website and search for the Small Ships mod.
On the mod's product page, find and download the mod file, which should be compatible with Fabric or Forge 1.21.4 as of now.
Copy and paste the mod file into the "mods" folder in the root Minecraft directory. For me, it's C:\Users\admin\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft.
Open the official game launcher and look for the Fabric or Forge 1.21.4 modded game version.
Open the game, enter a new world, and start building and sailing in different boats and ships.
