Minecraft is known for offering a wide range of customization options, allowing players to choose their favorite cosmetics and flaunt them. In this title, one can acquire capes in a host of ways. For instance, they can be obtained using the Marketplace Pass or through free content drops. However, a recent move from Mojang will see a paid cape enter the game. Here's everything you need to know about the item coming to Minecraft.Minecraft introduces a paid cape as part of new offerCapes are a major part of the cosmetic options offered in Minecraft (Image via Mojang Studios)Minecraft has introduced a new way to obtain an in-game cosmetic by pairing it with a real-life purchase. Players who buy the Creeper Cape's Adult or Child version from the merchandise store will be rewarded with a digital code. As stated in either variant's description, starting from December 7, 2024, this code can be redeemed inside Minecraft for an exclusive in-game cosmetic (a cape).Starting December 7, players will be rewarded with a cosmetic upon purchasing Creeper Cape from the merchandise store (Image via shop.minecraft.com)The only way to obtain the digital bonus is to purchase the real-life cape and get the code as part of the deliverables, essentially making it a reward you have to pay to obtain. This is the first time Mojang has introduced something like this and the community is not pleased:The community has seen players resell skin codes for as much as $570, but this is the first time paid a cosmetic will make an appearance in the game. Many gamers and fans of the best-selling sandbox are entirely opposed to the idea. Some argue that the marketplace pass offered a similar feature, but others have highlighted this move is exclusively for selling an item:The community is not all-too-happy with this decision (Image via X/@TheColorW2)Cosmetics are a major part of the game, so if future drops are paired with real-life merchandise, they might be unattainable to players outside the US. Gamers will have to spend a lot of money on import duties in addition to steep delivery charges to get their hands on their desired digital items. In other news, Mojang accidentally leaked an upcoming Eyeblossom Cape a few days ago (as of November 29, 2024), which was immediately removed once players discovered it on the game's website. Since it has not been officially released yet as a paid cosmetic, one can assume that the developers are reconsidering their decision to launch such items. Also read: Creaking mob guide: Location, loot, uses, and moreCheck out our other latest Minecraft articles:stairs guide: How to craft, uses, and moreBeyond Earth mod: Features, installation guide, and moreMrCrayfish's Gun Mod: Features, install guide, and moreHow to use shaders in 1.21.3
