Ilia Topuria is yearning for the UFC to host an event in Spain, and the surging featherweight contender already has an opponent in mind.

Topuria wants to face Paddy Pimblett in the main event of the inaugural UFC event in his home country, as the pair have had intense beef since March 2022. But it appears that a fellow rising contender is keen to face 'El Matador' in Spain, as Movsar Evloev recently called Topuria out on Twitter.

'El Matador' stated that Spain would be in for a treat once the UFC finally committed to hosting an event in the country, as he tweeted the following:

"UFC SPAIN 2023. Get ready for the show never seen before."

Evloev replied to Topuria and said the following:

"I will humble you in front of your own crowd"

Both Ilia Topuria and Movsar Evloev are undefeated and ranked inside the top 10 of the UFC featherweight division.

A fight between the two would be an exciting watch, as the grappling-heavy style of the Russian would test the skills of 'El Matador', who is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt and has a background in wrestling.

However, Pimblett and Topuria may be eager to settle their differences first. The pair came close to blows during an altercation at the fighter hotel in March, and have traded insults online since.

Ilia Topuria calls for a fight with Brian Ortega following his win over Bryce Mitchell

Ilia Topuria showed why he could soon be fighting for a UFC title after his performance against Bryce Mitchell at UFC 282. 'El Matador' went into the fight ranked above Mitchell, but many fans felt 'Thug Nasty' would be able to dominate Topuria with his grappling.

However, 'El Matador' dominated Mitchell from the opening bell as he landed thunderous blows throughout the fight before submitting his opponent in the second round.

Topuria spoke to Laura Sanko after the fight and called out No.3-ranked UFC featherweight Brian Ortega. 'El Matador' also mentioned his eagerness to fight the 145-pound champion Alexander Volkanovski, who will take on Islam Makhachev for the lightweight title next.

Topuria said:

"I wanna fight with T-City, Brian Ortega next. If the UFC brings an event to Spain that will be amazing. Maybe the title shot but I know that [Volkanovski] is busy right now. Going up to lightweight right? If it's not him, then I want a fight with Brian Ortega."
