Christian Lee’s annihilation of Ok Rae Yoon at ONE 160 might just be the most one-sided world title fight in ONE Championship history. It was a masterclass of epic proportions that saw him reclaim his ONE lightweight world title.

Just months after regaining his gold, Lee will now move up a division and challenge Kiamrian Abbasov for the ONE welterweight world championship at ONE on Prime Video 4 on November 18 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

Lee and Ok first met at ONE: Revolution in September 2021 in a match that fans saw as controversial. Their first match saw Lee at his usual aggressive self but Ok’s toughness and grittiness proved too much for the Singaporean-American.

As Lee moved forward at every turn, Ok withstood everything and scored a unanimous decision win to capture lightweight gold. A year later, the two lightweight greats were back at it. This time, however, it was a stage that Lee took for himself. As Lee heads into another chapter in his illustrious career, we take a look back at how he returned to his throne.

Christian Lee first grabbed hold of the ONE lightweight world title when he was only 20 years old, and ONE 160 was the first time that he entered the circle as a challenger since 2019. Needless to say, he wanted the gold that he believed he shouldn’t have lost and Ok Rae Yoon was going to be the unfortunate victim of his oncoming onslaught.

Lee believes that he was the rightful winner of the first fight against Ok at ONE: Revolution, and he proved more than that in their fateful rematch. Right from the opening bell, Lee put on an unrelenting pace that broke through Ok’s defense. Although the South Korean star looked impenetrable in their first match, he looked like a broken heap in the rematch.

Lee was unstoppable in the opening round and he nearly finished Ok just four minutes into the first when he landed a crisp two-punch combination. He then followed it up with hellacious knees to the head. Despite that flurry, Ok managed to pop back up but it took Lee less than five seconds to once again impose his will. Lee cracked Ok with another overhand right that knocked the Busan native down.

Ok, though, managed to survive the opener but Lee was primed for a historic victory just a couple of minutes later.

The return of the king

The second round looked eerily similar to the first since it featured Christian Lee once again showing his aggression and Ok Rae Yoon not putting his guard up. Lee constantly found his target in the opening moments, landing some heavy leg kicks and clocking Ok with a left hook.

‘The Warrior’ even landed a Superman punch-leg kick combo that briefly staggered Ok, but it was another overhand right that once again knocked the South Korean down. Sensing that the finish was in sight, Lee launched several knees right in front of Ok’s corner before the referee mercifully put an end to the match one minute into the second round.

Though he’s firmly established into the annals of ONE Championship’s lightweight lore, Christian Lee will look to create more history when he challenges Kiamrian Abbasov for the ONE welterweight world title this November. Lee will try to join the exclusive club of two-division world champions but Abbasov won’t be going down easily.

Abbasov is one of the most dangerous fighters in the world and he’s held the welterweight gold since October 2019 when he beat Swedish knockout artist Zebaztian Kadestam at ONE: Dawn of Valor in October 2019.

Nevertheless, Lee is hellbent on adding to his legacy in the sport. His fight against Abbasov won’t be the first time that Lee is moving up a weight class to challenge for a world title. Lee started his career at featherweight but he bumped up to lightweight at ONE: Enter the Dragon to challenge Japanese legend Shinya Aoki for the ONE lightweight world title in May 2019.
