A UFC Hall of Famer recently weighed in on Ben Askren's life-threatening battle with pneumonia and shared insight on the situation. He noted that it is an example of why health is very important and why it shouldn't be taken for granted.
Last Saturday, Askren's wife posted an update on her Facebook page that the former UFC competitor had suddenly developed severe pneumonia and was unresponsive in hospital. She asked for prayers and requested that nobody discuss the health battle with their children.
In the latest episode of Believe You Me, Michael Bisping expressed his concern for Askren. Bisping mentioned that it is a very unfortunate situation and hopes 'Funky' can bounce back from the disease. He said:
"When there's children involved, oh my God, and obviously he's one of the guys from the MMA world, so we all wish him the best. But, my algorithm on social media, there's a lot of health stuff these days... But one thing that I see a lot... but it's so true and this kind of alludes to that, you might have all these problems until it's a health problem. And then you forget about everything else... When it becomes serious health problem, it puts everything into perspective. It changes the game."

Michael Bisping explains how Ben Askren's situation is another reminder to live life to fullest
Michael Bisping also highlighted a key takeaway from Ben Askren's unfortunate health situation in that it is a reminder to live life to the fullest.
In the aforementioned episode, Bisping explained the importance for others to enjoy their lives when they are healthy enough. He said:
"[My wife and I] were talking about somebody and the person we were talking about was 70-something years old. And I said to Rebecca, 'That's only 28 years away'... 74 sounds like you're getting really old. 28 years, when you think that's a long time, but it flies by just like that and I'm like, 'We're doing sh*t, simple as that. I don't care. When I get back, we're going on holiday'. [58:05]
