UFC star Conor McGregor has been trolled by fans after posting a strange video of himself using a filter that gives him the face of an ape.

The Irishman is currently taking part in filming for the Hollywood remake of the American classic Road House. The film, which also stars Jake Gyllenhaal, is set to be released next year.

In the video McGregor tweeted, the 'Notorious' star yet again teased his UFC return by a stating he was going to "be back." The video is clouded with typical McGregor ambiguity and fans have trolled the 34-year-old due to its strange nature.

"I told you I'd be back. Wakey, wakey."

MMA fans have reacted to the post from McGregor, with one fan joking that the video has shades of the stereotypical Facebook uncle who has just discovered the use of filters:

"Bro's movin like a 60 year old facebook uncle"

Another fan joked that the Irishman's 2018 loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov had resulted in a downward spiral, leading to what Conor McGregor's fans see today:

"Khabib did this to you? Never been the same since"

One Twitter user trolled the former double champ by stating that his girlfriend had broken up with him because their relationship was 'finished like McGregor':

"I was on a date with my girlfriend. She seemed off. I asked her what was wrong, and she replied 'Our relationship is Conor McGregor' I burst into tears, our relationship was finished."

Conor McGregor and his team release statement following controversial Halloween post

Conor McGregor and his family have come under fire in the last week after it appeared as though his mother was wearing blackface while attending a Halloween party.

McGregor was sporting an unusually clean-shaven look for himself as he dressed as a pilot alongside his partner Dee Devlin. His mother Margaret, however, appeared to have black makeup all over her face.

Following the pictures posted on Instagram, Conor McGregor's mother was accused of being culturally inappropriate for wearing blackface.

In response, team McGregor put out a statement that insisted his mother was dressed as a cavewoman who had been "risen from the grave." They claimed that the black makeup was originally spiders, as she was a corpse, but had become smudged.

The statement reads:

"The McGregor family loves Halloween. Mrs McGregor had spiders painted on her face since her costume was a ghoul risen from the grave. Any other interpretation was just wrong and truly unfortunate."
