Former UFC heavyweight reacts to Joe Rogan and Dave Portnoy's heated debate on Tommy Fury

During episode #1920 of The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Barstool Sports CEO Dave Portnoy and host Joe Rogan had a rather heated debate over the credibility of Tommy Fury as a boxer.

The segment saw Portnoy constantly downplaying the 23-year-old's credibility as a boxer, saying that the sole reason for his popularity was that he was WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury's younger brother.

Rogan, however, felt that Portnoy was being unfair to the younger Fury. According to the 55-year-old, Tommy Fury may not have the skills of his older brother, but he is still a very good "journeyman boxer."

Rogan's good friend and former UFC heavyweight contender Brendan Schaub seems to have enjoyed the argument between the two men on JRE. Schaub reacted to a clip of the argument, tweeting:

"I’ve watched this 10X 😂"

Furthermore, in the comments section of his own tweet, the former UFC fighter claimed that being a contestant on the reality show Love Island is by far Tommy Fury's greatest achievement.

Judging by this comment, one can assume that Schaub is leaning more towards Dave Portnoy's assessment of Fury than Rogan's.

The English boxer is currently undefeated in his pro-boxing career with eight wins. However, the caliber of the 23-year-old's opposition has always been a source of criticism against the legitimacy of his career.

When Joe Rogan suggested that a prime Mike Tyson was one of the best boxers of all time

During episode #1778 of JRE, Joe Rogan suggested to fellow comedian Joey Diaz that a prime Mike Tyson was quite possibly one of the best boxers of all time.

The UFC commentator claimed that he would confidently pitch the best version of 'Iron Mike' against any of boxing's all-time greats:

"Mike Tyson in his prime, on those years from like... 86, 87 to 90... whatever those years were, where he was just storming the gates, I'd put that Mike Tyson against anybody who ever lived. That guy was a special fighter. The Mike Tyson that beat Marvis Frazier was a, he was a just a juggernaut, just, you couldn't stop him."

Rogan added that the deep knowledge of the sweet science Mike Tyson acquired under the tutelage of Cus D'Amato was one of the major factors which fueled his meteoric rise in the boxing world.

At the height of his career, the legendary boxer held the WBA, WBC, IBF, and the Ring Magazine heavyweight titles.
