Former UFC welterweight Mike Perry doesn't understand the hate coming Jake Paul's way. 'Platinum' believes Paul doesn't deserve the vitriol he gets when all he is trying to do is promote the sport.

The amount of anger coming Paul's way going into his fight against Anderson Silva makes Perry want to side with 'The Problem Child'. However, the former UFC welterweight believes the matchup could go both ways. The 31-year-old said in an interview with The Schmo:

"I see a lot of hate towards Jake. It seems unnecessary, he's really trying to promote the sport. And a lot of high-level pros are saying he's making it better. And just the amount of hate towards him, I'm like, 'Dang, I kind of wanna root for the American kid'. But Silva's a long time GOAT. And we know his hands are proved. But I really don't know what's gonna happen tonight. I think Silva could teach Jake a lesson and I think Jake's youth could triumph over Silva."

Mike Perry was recently suggested as a potential opponent for Jake Paul by UFC middleweight Paulo Costa.

Why Mike Perry considers himself an ideal opponent for Jake Paul

Mike Perry has made a seemingly successful BKFC career for himself since leaving the UFC last year. 'Platinum' is now 2-0 in the BKFC, coming off a decision win over Michael 'Venom' Paige in a legendary bare-knuckle fight.

Perry called for a fight against Jake Paul in the aftermath of his win over MVP. 'Platinum' believes he meets almost every criteria that Jake Paul seeks in his opponents: MMA fighter, shorter and smaller than himself. The former UFC welterweight said on The MMA Hour:

"I think it makes a lot of sense. He keeps losing opponents, I always show up for my fights. I have a lot of the attributes that he likes to compete against. UFC fighter, MMA fighter, shorter guy, smaller in weight, tough, and some pople would say stiff or don't move my head. I just beat a titan in combat sports. So you want to soldify yourself?"
