Jon Jones was crowned the heavyweight champion following a sublime performance against Ciryl Gane at UFC 285 last weekend. 'Bones' submitted his opponent with little difficulty in the first round.

Jones locked in a guillotine choke within two minutes of the opening round, and he has now disclosed that he heard Gane's spine popping during the submission.

'Bones' was interviewed by Sports Illustrated magazine following his impressive victory at UFC 285, and he said this:

"I locked it up twice the first time, I could hear his spine popping. I gave him a nice chiropractic adjustment. The second time, he didn’t want that same ratchet on his neck, and I put my arm on his neck and choked him out. I didn’t expect it to go that quickly. But that’s what we were looking for—the win and domination."

Jon Jones faced Ciryl Gane after more than three years away from competing. Prior to UFC 285, 'Bones' had last fought Dominick Reyes at UFC 247 in February 2020, a fight Jones won via unanimous decision.

He vacated the light heavyweight title in August 2020, and announced he would be moving to heavyweight. 'Bones' spent the next three years packing on enough muscle to compete with larger and stronger opponents, and he seemed to overpower Gane during their contest last weekend.

Jon Jones is now set to face former heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic in his first title defense, as per UFC president Dana White.

Jon Jones claims he has done a "full training camp" for Stipe Miocic already

Jon Jones realized a long-time dream last weekend against Ciryl Gane, when he was crowned heavyweight champion. 'Bones' had aspirations of becoming a two-division UFC champion, and achieved his goal after a first-round submission victory.

UFC president Dana White announced that Jones would face Stipe Miocic next, with the fight being targeted for International Fight Week in July.

Following his impressive victory at UFC 285, Jon Jones appeared in front of the media. 'Bones' discussed his next bout against Miocic, stating that he would be as prepared as possible ahead of his first title defense.

"I'm already prepared for Stipe Miocic. We actually did a full training camp for Stipe Miocic already, and the fight didn't transpire. We're just going to pull out our old notes, refine these notes and get right back to studying. Everything I do will be about Stipe Miocic. I believe that I am not only going to win this fight against Stipe, but I am going to finish Stipe Miocic."
