Alex Pereira grabbed the attention of MMA fans across the globe when he donned the traditional headdress and face paint of his indigenous Brazilian tribe during the UFC 281 face-off with Israel Adesanya.

Now, after securing the UFC middleweight title against Adesanya, 'Poatan' has traveled back to Brazil to visit the tribe he belongs to, the Pataxó tribe. The population of the group is roughly 11,800, and they reside in Bahia.

Photos of Pereira with the people of his tribe were posted on Twitter by MMA news account @MMAMania, who captioned the post:

Pereira's walkout routine includes him firing an imaginary arrow, which is done to honor the Pataxó tribe.

Alex Pereira shocked the MMA community when he TKO'd Israel Adesanya at UFC 281. 'Poatan' is likely to face the champion in an immediate rematch sometime in 2023, but nothing has been made official by the UFC yet.

Should Adesanya not be able to face 'Poatan' next, former champion and No.2-ranked UFC middleweight Robert Whittaker is likely to get a chance to reclaim the title he once held.

Georges St-Pierre's coach explains why Alex Pereira has such great KO power

Alex Pereira is arguably the most feared striker in MMA right now, with highlight reels of his kickboxing and MMA knockouts circulating online since his UFC debut.

The power that Pereira possesses seems almost uncanny, as he is able to knock opponents out cold with what appears to be minimal effort. His knockout of Thomas Powell at LFA 97 is a prime example of the frightening power that 'Poatan' can generate.

Firas Zahabi, Georges St-Pierre's head coach for many years and the head of Tristar Gym in Canada, recently broke down why Alex Pereira is able to knock out opponents so easily.

In a video uploaded to Tristar Gym's YouTube channel, Zahabi alluded to Pereira's physical structure and said the following:

"The number one component of how strong you are is how and where your tendons are attached to your bone... Tendons and muscles, where they're attached to the bone makes a very big difference in leverage. I think he's just blessed with great genetics for generating power and he's been extremely physical from a young age."
