In addition to his belt collection, Sage Northcutt is also planning on growing a family.

A lot has changed for Sage since fans last saw him in the ONE circle. Perhaps the biggest change for him was getting married in 2020 to actress Amanda Leighton.

While getting back into a rhythm with MMA is the next mountain for Sage Northcutt to climb, he’s also thinking about another mountain: fatherhood.

In an interview with Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour this week, Sage spoke about his desire to enter both the cage and fatherhood in the future:

“No kids yet, but I definitely want kids in the future, for sure. I got married over the last couple of years, ended up getting married. Now I’m looking forward to this fight coming back. First fight back, May 5th it’s going to be exciting.”

Sage Northcutt’s return to the ONE circle has been booked against Pakistan’s Ahmed Mujtaba at ONE Fight Night 10 in May. He’s been gone from competition for four years after a rough knockout loss to Cosmo Alexandre in ONE, but now healed up and ready for a career reset.

Fortunately for Sage, he won’t have to travel out of the country to make his MMA return, traveling just one-time zone over to Colorado from California. After more than ten years of building a platform in Asia, ONE Championship will make their first stop in the US, with fighters like Sage Northcutt, Demetrious Johnson, and Alyse Anderson so far announced for the card.

Sage Northcutt touts overall improvements in MMA game ahead of big return

Sage Northcutt was once hailed as one of the top MMA prospects on the rise, and then he dropped off the map.

“Super” Sage has spent the last four years healing, training, and adding to his MMA knowledge before re-entering the fray at ONE Fight Night 10 this May.

Speaking to ONE Championship recently about his upgraded MMA skills, Northcutt said:

“A lot of people will be thinking, ‘Hey, Sage might have some ring rust.’ It’s been three-and-a-half years. It’s a little bit of time. But I’ve been training, I’ve been staying sharp. I feel like I’ve improved in a lot of different areas. I’m looking forward to showing it.”

Few young fighters give themselves the freedom to step back for such an extended period of time in their twenties. Sage Northcutt was healing from injuries as well during that time, investing in his long-term future in MMA.

ONE Fight Night 10 goes down on May 5 from the 1st Bank Center in Broomfield, Colorado, headlined by a flyweight world title fight between Demetrious Johnson and Adriano Moraes. The event streams live and for free on Amazon Prime Video for subscribers in North America.
