Fallout 76 Milepost Zero Caravans are here and to start your journey, you will need to start and complete “A Bump in The Road”. Initially, the Caravan feature was supposed to be added to the game in the Milepost update that arrived on September 3, 2024. However, due to some difficulties, the feature was delayed and added alongside a hotfix on September 17, 2024.
Despite the hotfix, the new Caravan update is reportedly plagued with bugs, but don’t let that stop you from experiencing the fresh features. In this article, we have shared a step-by-step guide for starting and finishing the "A Bump in The Road" Milepost Zero questline in Fallout 76.

Investigate the flare at Stony Man Lookout
- When you arrive at Stony Man Lookout, be prepared for a fight with Super Mutants. They can spawn as soon as you arrive, so make sure you're well-armed.
- After defeating the mutants, search around Stony Man Lookout for clues.
Find the holotape
- Search Stony Man Lookout for clues. On a table, you will find Luke's Holotape (Blue Ridge Caravan Merchant).
- Play the holotape, which reveals Luke's last message. He mentions Marley and Milepost Zero, indicating where the caravan cargo needs to be delivered.
- Retrieve cargo from the nearby dead Brahmin.
Retrieve cargo from the Brahmin
- Near Stony Man Lookout, you’ll find a dead Brahmin with the Blue Ridge Cargo on it. Loot the cargo to update your quest.
- Take the cargo to Milepost Zero.
Exploring Milepost Zero
- Upon arrival at Milepost Zero, take some time to explore the area. It has a well-done interior with useful resources like workbenches, food, and drink (e.g., whiskey and pre-war food).
- Head inside to meet Marley and Joanna Mayfield, two key characters for the Blue Ridge Caravan Company.

Meeting Marley and Joanna
- Talk to Marley to know that she is upset because her caravan business is struggling. Luke was part of her crew, but after his death, she needed someone to fill his shoes.
- Marley explains that the crew has dwindled due to a storm, and she's struggling to keep the caravan operation afloat.
- She offers you the opportunity to help her run deliveries and promises compensation in the form of supplies and caps.
Start the Caravan (500 caps required)
- If you accept the job, Marley will ask for help with funding the caravan. You’ll need 500 caps to get the operation started.
- The caravan will follow Skyline Drive. You must protect the Brahmin from attacks by enemies like Blood Eagles. Be prepared for a few tough fights along the route.
- Occasionally, you might encounter issues like the Brahmin getting stuck or refusing to move. This can happen, but restarting the game might help.
Deposit the Cargo
- Once you successfully escort the caravan to the drop-off point, deposit the cargo in the delivery box.
- Return to Marley to report the successful delivery.
Return to Marley (Quest Complete)
- Return to Milepost Zero and speak to Marley to complete the quest. She will thank you for helping and offer more work if you’re interested.
- You’ll receive supplies and caps as compensation for completing the quest. Supplies can be used to upgrade the caravan operation, improve Brahmin feed, and hire new merchants.
Hiring new workers
After completing the quest, Marley will mention that you can hire new workers for the caravan operation. You can choose from different roles like:
- Ammo Merchant
- Brahmin Tamer
- Decorator
- Goods Merchant
Each role requires a certain number of supplies to hire, so keep running caravan deliveries to earn more supplies. After that, you can continue taking new orders and build your own Caravan post service with Marley and Joanna.
