
Richard Childress Racing (RCR) is a stock car racing team from the United States of America. RCR, one of the competitors in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and NASCAR Cup Series is based in Welcome, North Carolina. The team fields three Chevrolet Camaro ZL1s and Chevrolet Camaro in the Cup Series and Xfinity Series, respectively.
Since 1972, the team has been consistent by qualifying at least one car in every race. RCR uses the No. 3 car as its primary car and has several partners in several competitions such as Kaulig Racing in the Cup Series and Big Machine Racing in the Xfinity Series. The Chevrolet-manufactured team debuted in the Cup Series in 1969, in the Xfinity Series, and Camping World Truck Series in 1995. The RCR has competed in 2,712 races and won 255 races with 14 championships and 192 pole positions.

Richard Childress is a retired race car driver from the USA. The 79-year-old was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA. He started his career in NASCAR in 1969 as a substitute driver. He worked for almost two years as an independent driver with the No. 96 number and changed it to No. 3 to pay tribute to Junior Johnson in 1971. Three years later, Childress became the winner of the unofficial invitational Metrolina 200.
He has competed in 285 races in the NASCAR Cup Series and 17 races in the NASCAR Grand National East Series. He also has 79 top-10 finishes to his name along with fifth place (best finish in Cup Series) in 1975 and ninth (best finish in the East Series) in 1972. Childress is a six-time champion car owner in the Winston Cup Series, six-time in the Xfinity Series, two-time in the Camping World Truck Series, and one-time in the ARCA Racing Series.
