It has been less than five years since Ty Gibbs started driving in NASCAR's premier racing series. Even then, from emerging as a rookie in 2021 to bagging the NASCAR Xfinity Series championship trophy in 2022, the Toyota pilot has steadily laddered his way to the limelight.

He startled the entire community by snatching a victory in his very first Xfinity race. However, that's perhaps not much of a shock as his achievements in 2020 and 2021 speak fervently of his calibre. Gibbs bagged the ARCA Menard Series Championship in 2021 and in the year before that, he picked up six wins en route to the 2020 ARCA Menards Series Owner’s Championship.

Although quite young, Gibbs is considered a force to watch out for even in the Cup Series side of things today. He developed the itch to race a Cup car for the first time when he landed a 15-race deal with 23XI Racing, substituting for both Bubba Wallace and Tyler Reddick in 2022.

Thanks to his indomitable spirit and sheer talent, the 21-year-old Charlotte native is now under a full-time Cup Series contract with Joe Gibbs Racing as the wheelman of the number 54 Monster Energy Toyota Camry XSE.

Gibbs showed incredible promise even amidst the tricky tire situation in Bristol a few weeks back. There was a point in the race when the racing aficionados were sure that the budding speedster was all set to pick up his first Cup triumph. Perhaps he lacked experience that Denny Hamlin surely did not and thus, he missed out on the win and ended up ninth. Nevertheless, he did lead 137 laps, which placed him third in the most laps led this year besides recording his fourth top-10 finish this season.
